Angler's Ridge Trail System
17 reviews
 4.59 of 5

The Angler's Ridge Trail System is a new trail system which weaves it's way throughout the new "CyberPark" industrial park just southwest of the Danville Regional Airport. Using the old gravel farm roads as a backbone, IMBA-inspired singletrack has been constructed throughout the park. Over 6 miles of wooded singletrack with multiple creek crossings and log crossings await.

These trails were used to host Danville's first-ever MTB race held in September of 2003 as part of the Virginia Derailer Race Series. The race loop includes almost every trail including "Little Pisgah", "Slingshot", "Hot Tamale", "Screaming Eagle", and "Angler's Ridge Trail".

Thanks to the Southern Virginia Mountain Bike Association for their hard work and dedication and their great partnership with Danville's Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. The SVMBA leads great club rides every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. They can be contacted through e-mail at svmba@adelphia.net.

Summary:
This was the first time for me riding these trails. Drove from Winston-Salem and it was well worth it. The trails are very well maintained and it is obvious they've put a lot of time and hard work into it. There is a lot of trails with a little of everything you want from singletrack, which keeps it interesting. Had a great day and will definitely be back for more!

Summary:
Lots of trails, easy to get a lot of miles in here. Some really good climbs, lots of fast sections, creeks to cross. Lots of hard work has gone into building this place. SVMBA has done an awesome job in just 4-5 years. Worth driving up from Raleigh to ride these trails.

Recommended Route:
I like it all, backwards and forwards.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
New Light, Beaver Dam, Mo'ville

Summary:
Lots of hard work and leaf blowing goes into this trail on almost a weekly basis. This trail system is coming together nicely, and offers more than 25 miles of sweet single track trail. With some great climbs and interesting obstacles like log bridges and skinnys with some plank jumps on the long striaght descents. What an awsome trail. Be ready to climb hard and descend fast. The trailhead is at a great place to go fishing or have a picnic after your ride. Truly an epic place to ride!

Summary:
We wanted to ride some new singletrack so we drove up from Raleigh to check out these trails. Thanks to local Terry for guiding us around all afternoon, we had a great time. Trail builders have done a good job of utilizing the limited amount of land they have and constructed a fun network or trails. It's not very technical but it has good flow and fast sections followed by numerous anarobic climbs and switchbacks.
I would recommend checking out these trails. It only took up just over an hour to get there from Raleigh and it was worth it.
Keep up the good work SVMBA.

Recommended Route:
We followed most of the race course and then some. Since I was getting guided I was just following the wheel in front of me.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Beaver Dam, New Light, various illegal single track around Raleigh.

Summary:
Wow! Thanks to Scott and the rest of the SVMBA crew for their tremendous efforts. The trails are awesome. I'll be back to ride them again soon.

Creek crossings, rocky sections, fast flats, good climbs, fun descents... What more could you ask for?

Recommended Route:
Started at the south end of the race loop (boat ramp parking area) and headed to the north end (start/finish), then finished the loop by heading back south. Headed back up from the parking lot to catch the Angler's Ridge Loop, Broken Arrow, Eagle Scout and Camelbak. Print a map from www.svmba.org for your first trip.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Dark Mountain, Hobby Park, Northwood, Salem Lake
