This trail has more than one section taking you through winding pine woods, down towards two nice creek crossings, and back up with a trail called log heaven. If you want a long ride, there are a bunch of 4-wheeler trails on the other side of the creek that lead to bike trails if you don't get lost. And of course what trail wouldn't be complete without some technical trails with roots and log crossings.
Bring a friend, you could be in there a while.
Two great things about this trail. There is a new trail from the creek back up to the top.
And it stays relatively dry. Most of this summer it was dry the day after it rained.
Coming from Fredericksburg, take Rt 3 east out of town towards King George. Take a left at Ferry Farm Road (3rd light after the bridge out of town). Take a right on Pendleton Rd, you will see signs for Ferry Farm Elemetary School. Take a Right into the parking lot and park anywhere. It gets a little tricky here. On you bike: stay to the left side of the school and ride up the grass towards the playground. Behind the playground you will see an opening back to the community. This is Bell Rd. When it comes to a T turn left onto Lakeshore drive and the first right onto Hampton Drive. It's a good little warmup. It ends about .5 miles with a basketball hoop on the left and the trail head on the right. Stay to the left when entering the trail, the downhill on the right is fun but you may not reach the trail again.
Summary: This is trail isn't very technical at all. I thought that this trail system was very easy. Unless you call tight turns and small roots technical, you must not go anywhere else to ride. Trails are poorly marked which doesn't make it fun when it is getting late in the afternoon.
My recommendation is go to Hollywood Farms for a descent ride.
If want some good riding go to Shaffer Farms, Patapsco State Park in Maryland.

Summary: Great trail system. I ride here very often and I'm not bored yet. Huge variety of terrain with some real single track and a few intense downhills. It may lack a bit in terms of good climbs but if your daring you could try to climb the hill which drops out into the neighborhood road by the pond. Once you cross the creek its almost as if you crossed into an entirely new trail system.
Recommended Route: Park at Elementary School ride across Baseball field into Argyle Heights subdivision. Trail starts at the end of a culdasack within the neighborhood immediately with a real nice downhill. From there get creative and try not to get lost. I've ended up 10 miles down route 3 before so be careful.

Summary: I will agree with the previous review of this trail. it is a good ride and the trails are very well maintained. In fact there was a guy with an axe out doing maintence when I was there. However the previous review describes this ride as technical. I ask you are lots of turns and small roots technical. This is a beginers ride at best and while there are a few trees setup across the trail they are really not trees as much as small branches for the most part. There is not much in the way of elivation changes to challenge someone on a hardtail or light full suspension rig. i enjoyed the trail for what it was which was good exercise and lots of options.
one final comment is that the directions to the park are poor unless you know the area. The starting point is old town Freddicksburg. If you are coming from 95 get off at rt 3 going east. when you get to Business rt 3 after crossing the river go west and make the first right onto Ferry road. Follow the directions from there to the school.
Recommended Route: if you can make heads or tails of the trail markings then you are doing better then I did. I brought a GPS with me hoping to make a map but soon got turned around anyway and had to use the GPS to get out of the park when i finally wanted to leave. A map wouldn't really do much good without better trail markings since there are jsut too many turns so you would have to have the map out all the time.
Other recommended trails in the same area: For more difficult try Fountain Head or Elizabeth's Furnance they are worth the ride.

Summary: The summary above explains the trail in perfect detail. The trail has some amazing log hopping and technical setup. If you looking to develop your technical skills this is an excellent trail for you.
Even though the trail is excellent, I do have a few problems with it. First off, the only parking to get there is at the Ferry Farm Elementary school. This great when school is out, but when school is in you cant park on school property. Second, the trail is poorly marked and you can get extremely lost. So if this is your first time going expect to be lost from 30 minutes to an hour. I really hope they develop a map or make this area a park.
Fredericksburg really lacks in the parks for off road trails. I hope this will change eventually.
Anyway, If your looking to be out in the wilderness and get lost this is it.
Got to take a chili away for the markings.
