Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Tyson's Corner Summary: My friends and I call this the 'reston run' and for the sake of simplicity 'Michael Faraday trail'. The trail starts with a fun downhill in reston adjacent to the Wiehle ave exit on the toll road. Granted the trail is very wide most of the way, but this is good. Horses are often on the trail as well. plus this gives those of us that are fast plenty of room to pass. From the above reccomended starting spot on route 7 it is possible to ride difficult run towards vienna and pickup the W&OD bike path. Traveling along difficult run in the other direction and you find your way to great falls. Note: the trail to great falls requires getting your feet soaked crossing the creek and it is ususally VERY VERY muddy. Its a fun ride, just be prepared to get a bit dirty. enjoy. Recommended Route: Enter from route 7 if you wish, but its easier from Wiehle ave in reston. Other recommended trails in the same area: wakefield park, accotink, fountain head.

, from Alexandria, Va Summary: To my knowledge this trail is actually called "Colvin Run". Parking at the mill on Route 7 the trail head is across "7" and on the right. Out and back is about is about 14 miles if you turn left down the W&OD bike trail(at the fitness center) to some connecting trails that end up in Reston. Going the other direction from the mill parking lot takes you to Great falls.

, from Reston, VA Summary: Being that this is literally my back yard, I love this trail. I agree, it isn't what I would call singletrack, I like to think of it as more of a playground. I don't know that I would drive far to get to it, but I do love riding it a couple times a week. I is a very good trail for keeping your skills up, enough to work you, but easy enough to have fun on. Recommended Route: Out my back door, and down past the tall oaks swimming pool. Other recommended trails in the same area: Keep on going and get to the Great Falls trail(s)

, from Herndon, VA Summary: A nice evening ride for the family, or an intense training excursion for the athlete. I recommend going through Runemede Park for some "off-road" biking, however high-speed fun is always available on the asphalt path. PEACE Recommended Route: Herndon Pkwy to Hunter's Creek Pool, near Runemede Park Other recommended trails in the same area: Great Falls

, from Arlington, VA Summary: Great ride for speed. There are hills that are short and quick to give you that speed through the woods. Its wide enough for mistakes and rough enough to cause them if you go fast. Recommended Route: Park behind Ice Rink in Reston
