The grand opening of the BloodRoot trail was on Saturday, 5/12/07.
The difficulty rating of this multi-use hiking/biking trail is Easy to Moderate. The first 2 miles are mowed grass and will lead you into the Lost Bridge West recreation area. The next 3 miles run along the Southern boundary of the Lost Bridge West Recreation area and are a mixture of mowed grass and dirt trails that run through various wooded sections.
At or near the 5 mile point you will begin to enter the wooded sections of the trail, the wooded sections will last for around 4 miles and have excellent rolling and curvy trails, and several large gully crossings. This 4 mile section of trail runs along the 2,600 acre reservoir and has many excellent vantage points overlooking the water.
The remaining mileage (around 3 miles) is a combination of grass and dirt trail that will lead you back to the trail-head.
There are plans to construct technical “mini-loops” to this main trail. The mini-loops will be 1 to 3 mile technical sections of a varying degree of difficulty. There are also plans to create several tent-camping areas along the trail.
