Perimeter trail (north)

This trail skirts the north and west sides of Los Alamos from Guaje Pines Cemetary to near the Los Alamos high school. There are numerous access points along the streets that it borders (Arizona, Yucca, 45th, 48th, Quemazon, and Ridgeway).
For a trail so close to the city, it has a lot to offer. From Guaje Pines Cemetary to roughly Mitchell trailhead, the trail was undamaged by the Cerro Grande fire and is fairly smooth singletrack. From Mitchell trailhead to the upper parts of Western area, the trail becomes progressively rockier and has a few steep ascents/descents. From the upper part of Western to the Ridgeway trailhead, the trail drops back into Los Alamos over numerous large rocks reminiscent of Quemazon trail.
The trail is a nice tuneup for some of the harder trails around LA. It's also a great way to connect numerous trails around LA. It crosses Pipeline road and Mitchell trail. From Ridgeway endpoint, a short ride down Sandia street leads to Quemazon trailhead. The Guaje Pines endpoint connects up with Upper Guaje Road, Cabra Loop, Pajarito Trail and Bayo Canyon.
Guaje pines cemetary is at ~7100ft, the highest point of the trail (near pipeline road intersection) is ~7780 ft, and the Ridgeway endpoint is at ~7380 ft.
