Tranquility Park MTB Trail
8 reviews
 3.25 of 5

Tranquility Park MTB Trail is Omaha's newest trail system, with initial work completed in the Summer of 2004. These trails are primarily singletrack though there are also some short sections of doubletrack connectors. A good mix of terrain can be found here, everything from tight, swervy singletrack slalom through pine trees to wide open grassland climbs followed by speed-building swooping descents to backcountry rough and dirty pockmarked tread that will test your technical skills for a few brief moments. There is a good amount of climbing to be had here (by Omaha standards) but this trail should be ridable for all but the very out of shape. There may be a few sections that will put a rider off their bike (either by ejection or dismount) but for the most part it should be 100% ridable for most riders. For info about this trail and latest reported trail conditions please drop by: http://nebraskacycling.org/v-web/bulletin/bb/index.php Make sure to thank Dale at BikeMasters for this great trail system! Thanks Dale!

From I-680: Exit at Fort St. Drive west on Fort past 120th St. Just past this intersection will be a driveway leading to a parking area. The trailhead is located just south of the first parking lot. I included a link of the current (Dec 2004) trail system. There are two additional trailheads, but land managers have asked that all vehicle traffic to access the trail be confined to the soccer field parking lot to avoid potential problems with homeowners (west trailhead) and the Iceplex patrons (south trailhead.)

Summary:
This used to be an ok loop for a quick workout. I think it was about 4 miles, once around. The local trail folks (T.H.O.R.) have rerouted a few sections and it has to be closer to 7 miles now. The original fun stuff at the creek and the pine trees is still mostly the same. The big grass hill that used to be up and then down....is now full of switchbacks and extends down and back up the South side of the hill also. I was huffin' and puffin' after the climbs! It's better than it was last year, so if you have not been yet in 2008, go check it out.

Recommended Route:
Park in the gravel parking lot on the South side of Fort St. Ride the singletrack heading South and then turning West along the creek. It will then go uphill to the pine trees. You can't really mess up after that....

Summary:
This is one of the first trails I have taken in Omaha and it was not a disappointment. There is a hillside part that has a few good climbs and there is a second part down by the creek that is semi technical. Definitely a trail I will continue to ride.

Recommended Route:
Depends what your looking for:

The hillside is fun if you want to do a little more climbing.

If you stay just south of Fort you will be able to do the technical by the creek and ride up in the trees on a smaller hill.

Summary:
Great beginner trail except for a couple tight sections near the creek. For more advanced riders..just ride it hard and fast and you'll be fine. For the location and space... this is a great trail.

Summary:
This is a beginners trail or a sprint for more skilled riders. It's about 3-4 miles in a well put together loop. Nice place for a quickie...well thought out trail.

Summary:
I rode this trail and was surprised by how much fun it was. I like the twisty stuff in the woods the most. I got a great workout.

I live out of town and was visiting the inlaws in Omaha. I brought my old hardtail and figured I'd get to ride on the paved trails around Omaha. I was really happy to find this off-road trail instead. It is real off-road riding, not just some bmx trails in the woods.

Thanks to whoever did all the work to build it. You've made Omaha a better place. I'll bring my bike everytime I visit the inlaws and won't dread going there anymore.

Recommended Route:
I couldn't figure out the loops -- I just rode where ever I liked. Before I go again, I'll print the map someone provided in a previous review of this trail. The map would help make sure I didn't miss any parts of the trail.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
I don't like in the area, so I don't know of other trails.
