Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Cross Country Rider Summary: The top is the second-highest point in PA - hence, lots of climbing and descending.
Even with torrential rains the night before, the trails had no puddles. Plenty of rocks all over. Great views.
Basically there are service roads/double tracks that go around the mountain while the singletracks basically go up and down. Long, fast descents with nice rock gardens combined with some tough climbs give you the full MTB experience.
The ski area also has trails - a rocky race course that I never got to - I hear it is tough, technical riding. The ski area side gets all the weather.
see here (the trails shown are accurate, but not all trails are shown):

Recommended Route: We were riding from the group camp, which is pretty much in the middle of everything.
Went up to the top of Lost Turkey to try some very sketchy stone steps. After that was a technical descent with switchbacks. Crossed a road and ended up at a camp and turned onto Chapell's field trail as Lost Turkey continues about 25 mi. long. Then Crist Ridge for a really long, gradual DH. Then climbed the North side of Rockin' Ridge/Pavia Run (ow.), around Three Springs up to Mountainview at the top, hit the DH (serious whoops!) back to a connector. If that's not enough, you can continue down the DH past the connector to Saw Mill, head up to the South side of Rockin' Ridge and blast that to the bottom. Then you gotta climb again.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Laurel Mt. is on the way from Ohio.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Rode Blue Knob two weekends ago for the first time. Trails were wet but what a great ride. I was impressed with the single track. Unfortunately, the guy at the golf course told me the guy that use to maintain the trails had a heart attack and they don't offer shuttle rides anymore. While at the resort, I didn't see another person. Recommended Route: Lost Turkey Trail and Mountain View trail.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Beautiful singletrack. I was up last weekend with the local bike club clearing trails. The lookout trail has some awesome rock steps/gardens and views. Very dry even in the early spring.

Ridden Trail: Once a year

Cross Country Rider Summary: Once a year I get to ride these trails. This is one of the best places to ride if you like getting a taste of everything. Penn State Cycling team hold a race weekend here and the course rocks...lots of rocks. There is a great climb to bust a lung on, then at the top of a very difficult climb you get to go into the woods and face rock after rock as you work your way back down the mountain. If you are in a flat section you are in a rock garden. Then pass the lodges and you get a fast single track that takes you winding though woods and keeps your heart racing as you have to pull your bike over countless logs. Everytime I have been there it has been raining which make these trail more technical...just makes for more fun. I would recommend taking a weekend here to ride everything. You will have to ride it more then once to fully appreciate.
Ride it as fast as you can cause that the only way.

Cross Country Rider
, from Altoona, Pa Summary: The trails in the resort are improving every year. New Singletrack is being built and maintained. Talk to Hink in the Mountain bike center and he will give you maps of the best places to ride. There is plenty of very good singletrack in the resort and it is easiest found with the maps.
