Sprague Brook Park

There are two good sections to ride. The first is the cross country ski trail which is a scenic, easy to ride, twenty minutes path. The path used to be even nicer but a fair amount of gravel was introduced to preserve the trail. Still worth doing however. The second is at the trailhead for snowmobiling, just past a bridge over the creek. This includes a good climb for about 10 minutes, then a section of "moguls" and roots that's really fun and just a touch technical, leading to a 15 minute section of fairly straight but interesting single track. All of this is very scenic single track and ends up at the top of the park where you can turn around and shoot down with a lot of speed.

Summary:
We checked out this place today & enjoyed it. Lots of good hills to pump through with decent clmibs and twisty downhills. There's a challenge to bad had especially when going fast but moderate riders shouldn't have much trouble at a slower pace.

Recommended Route:
Went backwards from the normal flow as we couldn't find the initial entrance which is to the right of the bathrooms in the lower parking lot. We took a road ride to the top of the hill then took a freeride through the woods until we found it but enjoyed our route. I'll try going the other way next time to see which way on the loop I like better.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Hunter's Creek - especially from the Hunte's Creek Rd entrance.

Summary:
You can ride this on a road bike with cyclocross tires. This is all fireroad and nothing technical. Good place to ride if you just want to do some excercise. If you like technical stuff, you'll HATE this place (I know I do).

Recommended Route:
Rt 240 from Orchard Park will lead you there after you pass Kissing Bridge.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Holiday Valley (http://www.holidayvalley.com), Hunters Creek.

Summary:
This is one of the Erie County Parks System camping areas. The most fun about Sprague Brook is taking the paved road to the top of the hill until it ends. Off to the right is where the downhill trails begin. Get ready to friggin' fly down this thing. Just watch out for hikers and families walking the shared path. Be sure to shout out which side you will be passing them on and how many other bikers are following behind you. This is a real rush. When your done, throw-up, drink some water, and do it again!

Recommended Route:
Just past Kissing Bridge Ski Resort across the other side of the road.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Kissing Bridge Ski Resort has allowed mountainbiking on its skiing hils. Be sure to ask permission before you ride.
