Summary:
This is a great trail. Rode the red trail which was a total of about 10.7 miles. It had some real nice climbs and some nice down hills. It is one of the most scenic trails that I've been on. You ride by two lakes big blue and wolverine. The sand steals your speed in a lot of spots. The trails are not really technical, but there are challenging hills that make your legs kind of tired. The trails were not busy and were clear of branches. (This is a review by a mediocre at best biker who likes to ride for fun)

Recommended Route:
This is the first time here so I only rode the red trail which was sweet

Summary:
I am leaving a 3 based on few things.
1.) The fee is outragous 6 bucks. Come on.
2.) For a fee that large there is no markings in the most crucial spots. The Y Turns and other areas. Sure there are markings. But when it comes up to a turn there are no markings.
3.) Most of the maps are hardly readible from weather and then they are torn down. So its a decent trail. I would like to leave a 3.5 but cant so I am not going to give it the benefit because of the price. Anything with the 6.00 fee should be perfectly marked. So about the trail. There are some sandy spots throught the trail. Nothing to major. I didnt find the Hills near complex as some people. Sure there steep but there either steep and short or shallow and long. So in my words I love hills and they proved to be pretty wimpy. Dont get me wrong I liked this trail. I wont ride it again unless I have some people with me or a group. It got my heart rate up but not much more. So drop the price a little. Mark the turn-offs and provide maps for the paying people and this trail would be worth a 4.5

Summary:
I haven't been yet this year so I'm not sure what happened in terms of the ownership/management issue but: This place is probably my favorite in Michigan. It doesn't have the "technical" stuff of a Burchfield but the trails here are quite challenging. There are numerous downhills to get up some super speed and some tough sandy spots. Of course with the downhills come the uphills (some of the switch backs will kill you) so don't come here if you are not in at least moderate shape. If you decide to ride this, the reward is tremendous - the scenery here is some of the best around and you might even get to see some boyscouts canoeing on the Big Blue Lake. To get an idea of the topography, go to www.topozone.com and search for "Big Blue Lake" in Michigan, the trails circle all around that area.
Be prepared for : 1. You must wear a helmet here. 2. There is a trail fee. 3. There might be some yuppies with full-susp. Cannondales and Spandex.
Other notes: Bring a small backpack including food, lots of water, and navigation stuff - you can spend hours out here if you want to and although getting lost is unlikely, a map and compass help you choose the right route, as well as help you to develop some fun skills.
Peace!
