Cross Country Rider Summary: Just wanted to post a 2008 update regarding this trail. There is a group of riders that are trying to formalize and perform regular trail maintenance here throughout the year.
The trail is in pretty good shape this year so far and are drying out pretty well. There are some low lying areas that hold water and due to the later than usual spring, they are a little late to dry out.
Due to some late winter flooding, the creek that runs next to some of the trails has caused some erosion and brought the bank of the creek right next to the trail in some sections. Just a warning to pay attention as you ride along the creek.
Other than that, have fun riding.
Check out a few local cycling website's forum for any up to date info, rides, or races.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I recently moved to town and the word is that Franke is the only "real" trail in town. (I rode the trail at Winona Lake last weekend --awesome!)
Franke was surprisingly good. Lots of varied terrain. No killer hills, but quite a few ups and downs.
I will echo many of the previous comments and reviews, this trail needs maps and signage.
Nevertheless - solid, fun, trail. Recommended Route: Not sure. I had the most fun on a section of trails that did not seem very heavily used. Did I stumble upon a secret spot? I dont know... Other recommended trails in the same area: Winona lake

, from Fort Wayne, IN Summary: Been riding here for about 4 seasons. Great trails for a public, urban park. Enough variety and challenge to ride frequently and at different experience levels. If you come across something you can't handle, just walk around it. Watch out for fallen trees blocking trails (some about knee-high) and someone's creative obstacle construction. Could be better marked, but you can't really get lost. Watch out for hikers/walkers and other bikers on the trail - it's become busier with both lately, for some reason. I've heard that you shouldn't back in to your parking spot - that is indicates to some people that you're there for...a different kind of ride, lets say. Never have seen any evidence of this though. Take your garbage out with you - plenty of trash cans around. If you ever see a hefty guy on a blue-and-white Specialized HardRock, that's probably me. Feel free to ask questions. Recommended Route: Easy route: Start near the pond just off the road near the day camp. Follow DINO markers (paint) or go your own way. Difficult: Park near the lake, ride up either road up the hill and start on a trailhead on your right. Other recommended trails in the same area: Blue River Trail/Morche's Park (Columbia City)

, from FT WAYNE Summary: I DIDN'T THINK THIS TRAIL WAS WORTH A MENTION ON THIS WEBSITE -- SURPRISED TO FIND IT HERE! I BROUGHT MY BOYS OUT HERE A COUPLE YEARS AGO, AND WE JUST HACKED AROUND ON THE TRAILS, NO REAL DIRECTION, JUST EXPLORING. WE HAD A BLAST!! BUT YOU HAVE TO START BY THE TRACK, CLIMB THE HILL AND TAKE THE SINGLETRACK INTO THE WOODS! I LOVED THE VARIED ASPECTS OF THE TRAIL, BUT EXPLORE TOO MUCH, BECAUSE MY BOYS WEREN'T UP TO ALL OF IT ON TOP OF A 16-MILE ROUND TRIP THERE AND BACK. AWORD TO THE WISE; RIDE IT IN DRIER WEATHER UNLESS YOU'RE GOING FOR THE HEAD-TO-TOE MUDPACK BEAUTY TREATMENT. Recommended Route: START BY THE bmx TRACK Other recommended trails in the same area: HAVEN'T TRIED ROBINSON YET; FOSTER IS A PRIMER FOR BEGINNERS.
