Kentuck ORV Trail
9 reviews
 4.44 of 5

A roller coaster for mountain bikes. Nothing technical, however there are some very steep climbs/descents. See map at trail head for several options on the 25+ miles of doubletrack. There are several options to various loops. The entire trail system is designed for four wheeleres so it is all at least 48" wide. You just have to yield to the motocrossers, REMEMBER you can hear them coming they can't hear you!!!

Trail Directions
From I-20 take Exit 185 and go South on HWY 21 towards Munford. Turn left on Macintosh Road (I think it is also called Talledega 172) and go about two miles past the Antioch Baptist Church and look for the KENTUCK ORV trail on your left and turn right. This rough paved road turns to gravel/dirt after which you turn right at the next KENTUCK ORV trail and go 2.2 miles and turn left into the parking area. THIS IS A FEE USE AREA that is striclty enforced but well worth the $3 for admission.

Summary:
This trail is rollercoaster doubletrack. On a dry day, it is the best trail I have ridden in Alabama(that includes oak mountain) on a wet day it is the worst trail ever, almost unrideable. It is best to go on a week day as there is less traffic. SUper Fun!!

Recommended Route:
any of the routes are good ones

Other recommended trails in the same area:
iron legs, oak mountain, gene's loop

YEE! HAA!...not for the weak spirited, at all! i used to live near, so i could get a car-load of buds together, we'd camp at the trail head and shred-baby-shred! but even if it's just you, $3 is a bargan, they groom this trail often, so it's money well spent. try to go on a weekday as to avoid the motor-heads. also, don't let tunnel vision get the best of you, i've been hurt pretty bad a few times, so use caution!

Recommended Route:
there are 4 loops and there all killer, 2 in one day are all i was able to do. listen for motor-heads and try to pick a loop that's not buzzing with activity

Other recommended trails in the same area:
iron legs, cheaha and oak mtn

I have only been once and it was really cool. Me and my wife had recently gone there and she hasn't been riding that long. It had became dark and she doesn't have a headlight on her bike but the trail are very smooth and not rutted out so she could run according to my headlights and one other rider behing us without incident.

Recommended Route:
All of them are really cool.
