Ridden Trail: Once a month

Cross Country Rider Summary: Salinas used to be one of the best trails to ride in Puerto Rico. It had a little bit of everything from fast downhills to long climbs, fast singletracks, long distance riding, technical sections but all this is gone. But over the years they slowly started to eliminate all the more dificult or challenging sections for the cross country racers of puerto rico and last month they finally destroyed this trail. They decided to flatten the trail with a bulldozer for a crosscountry event. Many riders in pr or pissed with this. Recommended Route: Dont bother going.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Great and challenging trail!!!! Climbs are hard but once youre on the top the view is breathtaking. The donwhills are good also and fast. Some drops, lots of single tracks. Some parts are technical and some easy. Its fun and gets you in a great shape. My advice: bring extra water and extra tubes. Parking fascilities are very good. Other recommended trails in the same area: Guayama MTB Trail.

, from Rock Hill, SC Summary: Albergue Olinpico, Great trail system rolling hills, 90% singletrack, great climbs, fun starts as soon as you pass the “Cow Gate”, well worth 50 cents fee. This is a hot and arid ride with no shade, carry enough water, and a helmet strong enough to sit while repair flats “ouch”. Other recommended trails in the same area: Guanica State Forest

Racer
, from Atlanta, GA Summary: This trail is probably the best Puerto Rico has to offer. It is mostly single track and many races are held there each year. I worked in Puerto Rico on a detail job for about 5 months and became known around the MTB curcuit in PR. Salinas is difficult for the less experienced and it gets HOT if ridden even as early as 11:00. Check out www.cmtbpr.com for race details. It's in Spanish. They guys that run the races are top-notch, upstanding people. They took a Gringo like me in and treated me as one of their own. Recommended Route: For experienced: continue on through the first cow gate.
For beginners: take a right at the first trail intersection past the cow gate. Other recommended trails in the same area: Bosque de Susua, Sabana Grande, PR
