White Tail Ridge

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 2

Whitetail Ridge Trail is located in River Falls, WI. A mix of wooded singletrack and open field sections. These trails have a lot to offer. Tight twisty singletrack, rock sections, steep climbs, fast downhills, and new technical features including bridges, teeters, and a cool wooden berm. The trails are continually growing and evolving. Come on out to Western Wisconsin and see what we are building.

Summary:
Fast and flowing with a few short climbs. Handful of technical sections that break things up. New sections are really nice. Well maintained trails! The best Western WI has to offer. I hate to give scores for technical difficulty and aerobic difficulty because it is dependent on how fast and hard you want to go.

Recommended Route:
Follow the map

Summary:
I may be a little biased as I review this trail...maybe because I designed most of it! This publicly owned trail has evolved since 2006 to become a truly great place to mountain bike...luckily it is right outside my back door. I have heard others comment on the great "flow" and how the trail changes so often that it never really gets old. These are great things to hear as a trail designer and that it the type of trail we are going for. I come from a landscaping background helps get an eye for the contours and how a trail should unfold. There is a WORS/MNSCS race in August 2009, and a Thursday Night Series in the summer. For more info on WTR go to the club website at: www.kinnioffroad.com

I can say that I haven't ever gotten bored with WTR and it has enough climbing to keep you honest...a 5 mile lap generally takes about 25-30 minutes for most riders. There is a mix of mostly fast-hardpack singletrack, doubletrack, rocks, roots, short steep inclines and a couple white-knuckle descents. There is also new technical features being built all of the time...(with a new skills section for 2009) Come on out to Western WI next time you are in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Recommended Route:
Park in the cul-de-sac at Whitetail Blvd. Follow the "Jeep" trail into the woods at the end of the road (past the sign) and hop on the trail TO THE LEFT...the trail is designed to ride clockwise --- ONE WAY.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lowes Creek County Park in Eau Claire, WI
HPT in La Crosse
Memorial Park in Red Wing, MN
Afton Alps Ski Area

One of the premier mt. bike trails on this side of WI. When I found out I live only a few miles away, I was stoked. Great trail, a bit of everything from some tight twisty trails, to some nice rhythm sections, big open flats to an awesome wooden berm. Great trail to ride!!!
