Stokke highland

Rocks, downed trees, streams, mud, sand, small dirt jumps, small cliffs/drops, and hills. This is one of my favorite trails for all the above reasons. It can be a decent technical trail if you like to ride fast. Part of the trail goes onto private land that is posted "no trespassing", so beware. However, the best parts of the trail are on the public land. The uphill sections are fairly difficult, but it is worth the trip up for the ride down. It brings new challenges when you ride opposite directions. The dirt jumps have been neglected for about 5 years now, so only a few of them are hitable these days. (dont get too excited, they are not big huckers)

Trail Directions
Its fairly difficult to find the trailhead, but its easy to hop on the middle of it. In fact there are multiple places to get on the trail, but Ill let you know the easiest. Find the Stokke trail. (its a paved trail that continues from the Red Cedar trail) Ask anyone in town, and they will know where the Stokke is. About half way from either end, you will see a fire hydrant and a washed out trail that leads up the hill. This is it. To eventually ride all of the trail, you must cross the main bridge over the red cedar river and the trail continues by the waste water treatment plant. Note: this is not a loop trail. It starts and ends in two different palces

Summary:
It’s an alright trail, short but fun to ride if you are in Menomonie. I usually only go up to the no trespassing sign it goes past that into the woods but I don’t know how far. It also continues on the other side of the river across the bridge the entrance is right across from the parking lot on the left it goes for a little while on that side of the river and then disappears.

Summary:
Well, I just rode this trail for the first time in about 2 months and it is quite obvious that no one has been maintaining it. During the school year, college students ride it heavy and maintain the trail, but this summer is different. We just had a big storm here and I spent most of my ride cleaning up the downed branches and trees over the trail. Some I couldnt move and they are far too large and bushy to consider riding over, so that really puts a damper on the riding. Some of the areas also have far too many weeds to ride through. So, the conclusion on this one is to ride the trail during the college school year.

Just to note: the trail is also right next to the red cedar state trail, so if you get done riding that boring trail, you could ride this one for a bit more excitement and workout.
