There a short 1.5 - 2 mile loop that has short and eary climbs. It's a good warm up for the longer 6 mile loop. It starts out with a very very steep 1/2 mile climb, followed by several mile of mostly downhill bombing. Good brakes, good back, and suspension recommend. If you survive the climb the downhills a hoot.

Summary:
Make sure you follow the long loop that rides up the bluff. Quite a few decent, steep climbs, followed by fast, short downhills. Terrain is easy to ride on and for the most part easy to climb. Watch out for the erosion logs on some of the downhills, they are the most dangerous part of the trails.

Recommended Route:
Grab a Map and make sure you follow the long loop or the medium loop. Either way when you come across the path up to Perrot Ridge make sure you climb to the top. The view is spectacular and well worth the hike up. Beautiful scenery

IT'S A BIG CLIMB UP BRADY'S BLUFF, BUT WELL WORTH IT. THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR.
I HAVE SEEN A RED HAWK SOARING AT ONE HUNDRED FIFTY FEET UP IN THE AIR, THE COOL THING WAS ON I WAS ON A HEAD WALL FIVE FEET AWAY FROM THAT RED. I KNOW THAT BIRD WAS TAKING A LOOK AT ME, SHE STAYED THERE FOR QUITE A WHILE THEN SHE JUST TURNED A WING AND WENT ON. I LOVE THAT BLUFF, IVE CAMPED ON THE WALL. THANK GOD FOR THE MEMORIES. REMEMBER, GRAVITY SUCKS "FRICTION IS A DRAG"

Recommended Route:
GO DOWN MAIN STREET IN TREMPELALAU (NEVER COULD SPELL THE TREMP.) OH WELL... MAKE SURE TO STOP AT THE TREMP HOTEL FOR A GREAT BREAKFAST.

Summary:
I want to comment on what Steve B. from Trempealeu posted on Jan. 25th. I have never ridden the trails at Perot State Park, however, I have ridden and was previously employed by the Kettle Morain State Forest in Southeastern Wisconsin (the home of the John Muir bike trails). Steve, what would you do if there was NO place for you to ride? Wouldn't it be a shame if the resources we DO have in the state of Wisconsin weren't protected by rules and eventually you were not able to access the beautiful land provided to us by nature. Or worse yet, future generations were not able to enjoy what we today can enjoy. Accept the rules Steve, they are there for the protection of the land as well as the people who use it. Those trails are NOT just for bikers they are for every Wisonsin resident. Oh, and Steve... buy a park sticker and a trail pass instead of sneaking onto the trais and trying to "bomb" past the ranger station. You get what you pay for... by not paying the fee you are hurting the already slim maintenance budget the trails DO have. Seems to me like you're the problem Steve, not the trails or the people who maintain them.

biking trails are fast and smooth but not technical at all. if you want the real fun hit up bradys bluff, that is the shit. so it might get you in a little trouble but it is worth it. the hiking trails kick the biking trails ass!!

Recommended Route:
park outside the park so you dont have to pay, go in and grab a map then hit the trails

Once a week

Reviewed by: Brady , from Holmen

Summary:
I worked at Perot Park this past summer so I got to ride the trails there almost everyday after work. I also got to hike them about once a week for work. The trails are mowed kind of wide and there is really no chance of getting singletrack in any time soon. But, it is a great place to go and ride if you like to climb and like to ride in open goat prairies and nice western Wisconsin bluffs. Nothing too technical, just watch your speed on the downhills and be cautious of hikers and other trail users.

Recommended Route:
Full loop, with ending by doing a second shorter loop.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
DO NOT RIDE TRAILS IF SIGN AT TRAIL HEAD SAYS THAT THE TRAILS ARE CLOSED. THE SIGN IS UP FOR A REASON. USUALLY BECAUSE IT JUST RAINED AND THERE ARE EROSION PROBLEMS OR IF A LOT OF TREES BLEW DOWN ON THE TRAIL BLOCKING IT. THE RANGERS WILL GIVE YOU A CITATION IF YOU RIDE WHEN THE TRAILS ARE CLOSED.
