Cross Country Rider Summary: When I lived in Plover (4 yrs. ago) I would leave from my house and go north up Hoover Ave. to connect with the granite part of the trail off of Hwy. HH. I would ride the entire green circle plus the singletrack gems 5-6 times a week. Really good workout as the entire thing is 20+ miles. Recommended Route: Start anywhere and ride until you loop back to your vehicle! Contact the UWSP MTB club or any of the local bike shops for details on the singletrack sections Other recommended trails in the same area: Standing Rocks, 9 mile in Wausau.

Cross Country Rider Summary: The trail is great for those interested in a good aerobic workout. It has quite a few trails that venture off the main track. The speed limit on the trail is 15 mph, and it is patrolled. The main trail runs to just about 26 miles. You could venture off the main trail and easily end up putting on 35 miles without covering the same trail. Recommended Route: I recommend starting in Pfiffner Park near downtown Point. From there head north along the Wisconsin River. You'll cut east along the north side of town through the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point's nature area, Schmeekle Reserve. Take your time in this area as it offers a great opportunity to see some wildlife. On your way back towards town you'll get the chance to ride the most challenging portion of the Green Circle. It takes you along the Little Plover River and offers some decent inclines and some quick declines. From there you'll be on city roads for a mile or so until you reach Iverson Park in the heart of Stevens Point. You'll wind through pine trees and eventually end up on the southern side of Point. Once you get to the Wisconsin River again you've got about 4 or 5 miles to go until you get back to Pfiffner Park and downtown Point. This is a great time to really push it as you head north along the River surrounded by trees and wildlife. Once you've made it back to the park take a break and hit up Guu's on Main for a pint or two.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Before I graduated college this May I rode sections of this trail 3-4 times a week. Very very well kept trail, and its huge; to ride the whole thing will take up a decent part of the day, it goes around the entire city and down to Plover too. This trail is one of the coolest things about Point - its a generally easy trail, very low difficulty perfect for general riders and families, a lot of beautiful scenery too. You can find some technical stuff around Iverson park, and some of the side trails that go off lead to areas that the bmx kids set up that can be pretty rad. Check out the side trail shooting off by the eastern side of Lake Joanis (go over the brush placed there to block it off) for a section with some decent downhills, and an area with some insane jumps that are kept up pretty well. Recommended Route: The stuff around Schmeekle reserve by campus is preety good, watch out for joggers and deer though. The deer tend not to run away or even move for that matter, Ive had a few near-hits. Other recommended trails in the same area: Standing Rocks

, from Stevens Point, WI Summary: The best thing to do is stop by a bike shop or the Park and rec department to pick up a free Green Circle map. Maybe the easiest place for visitors to find the Green circle is by parking in Iverson Park in Stevens Point. It is just a few blocks west of HWY 51/39 on Hwy 10. The Green cirlce is unique to most bike trails because it is a circle. You can do the entire 24 miles and don't have to back track. You don't have to see the same scenery twice. You can cut accross town to shorten your route or if you want to stop for a bite. Most of the trail winds through woods, river and stream. It is well groomed and maintained. Most people can't get over that a trail of this quality is also FREE to use. If you are looking for something to break you neck on, this is not the trail. It is pretty easy biking for any off road bike. If you are not in shape, you may have to walk up a few hills. The trail is being expanded to the West of the Wisconsin River. When this is done it will let you get away from the worst part of the circle where you are basicly traveling through town. Some of the trails are crushed granite, some tree back and a few parts paved. I have biked a few other trails around the State and the Green Cirlce is by far my favorite. For the most part you are away from traffic and close to nature. The most deer that I have seen on one evening ride is 28 and no, they were not in a pen. The trail twists and turns through the woods, you never know what you will see around the next corner. That is want keeps it from getting boring. Recommended Route: There are many places you can jump on the "circle" The most beautiful parts are along the waters of Wisconsin River, The Plover River and Lake Jonas. Other recommended trails in the same area: There are many trails that shoot off of the Green Circle. They are more primitive and unmarked. Most are in the North East loop.
