Weekend Warrior Summary: I've been riding these trails between Burleigh and Hampton since the 70's. Back then were rode 20 inchers with high rise handle bars banana seat and a sissy bar. We used to go under the freeway to the AMF proving grounds for snowmobiles and dirt bikes. Well the trails have gotten better. On the north side of Capitol drive, just west of the Menomonee River is a new 4x4 post announcing the MTB TRAIL. It's about a 2 mile loop. Back out on Capitol Drive head east and down the grass hill to the parkway which goes through Currie Park. Cross HWY 100 (Mayfair Rd.) and about 30 feet on the right starts the singletrack trail where you can ride all the way to Burleigh. Cross Burleigh at the lights and ride parallel to the road for about a 1/4 mile and duck back into the woods again all the way to North Ave. Go under the North Ave bridge and continue to 92nd St.(Swan Blvd) You can choose to go under the bridge(be careful) or you can take the upper route and cross at the street level. To the left you may take a paved path, to the right and in Hoyt Park is the continuing singletrack trail. The trail leads all the way to the village of Wauwatosa.

Weekend Warrior Summary: You can ride fast and there are virtually no climbs. This is a good beginner trail. If you are up for a bit more challenge, try along the NORTH SIDE OF THE RIVER. Directions below. Compared to the regular Hoyt trails, this has more AM terrain and less groomed XC. Recommended Route: Park in the main Hoyt lot then head out to Swan Blvd and turn right. At the parkway traffic light, turn right. The trailhead is on your right about 20 feet down from the intersection. Head down the trail and turn right. You can follow this trail for about 5 miles. You can go under the bridges or you can cross the roads and drop back in. Other recommended trails in the same area: Harley Woods Trail. It's a bit more raw. Follow the trail described above, cross over Burliegh and drop down the hill. The trailhead is just on the left along the treeline.

Weekend Warrior Summary: for the place this trail is in, its amazing. its smackdab in the middle of wauwatosa, and goes on about 2 miles of river. there are plenty of challenging areas, and a whole section for jumps and etc. i ride these trails almost every day, and i love it. Recommended Route: hmm...no one good route i usually enter the trail from the enterance to hoyt park by the car entrance, take the right trail. Other recommended trails in the same area: ive never ridden it, but i hear crystal ridge is good.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Being an avid mountain biker and new to the area, I was excited by the trail description and first review of this trail. After riding it, I was disappointed to say the least. To say that this trail has challenging, technical singletrack is far from true. I rode from as far north on the Menomonee River Parkway I could find, all the way through Hoyt Park and found nothing that I wouldn't recommend to someone who was going on their first mountain bike ride. At one point, there was a 10 year old girl on an old Huffy coming from the other direction that seemed to be having an easy time with the trail.
If this is the best, most challenging stuff around, it looks like it will be road biking all the way. I sure hope I somehow missed the "technical" portion of the trail.
