Weekend Warrior Summary: Good tail in the city. Runs from Hampton Ave. to North Ave. on both the East and West side of the river. Decent network of trails on the East side of the river, the East side of the river also holds more technical trails. The trail is set on the bottom of the river ravine, so there are some steep climes and descents up and down the bluff, near the river there are some good rockgardens, tough to carry through on a hard tale. Recent additions of some ladder obstacles, Bonzai is a decent gut check. I grew up riding this trail and have never had any problems with the trail ie bums, bike thieves etc. But I have heard of others who have, so keep your wits with you, you'll be fine. Recommended Route: I enter the trail at Hubbard park in Shorewood, then ride South to North Ave, then cross, ride North to Hampton Ave, cross again then South back to Hubbard park. This route starts out with technical single track then leads to fairly mellow XC stint on the West side of the river, then ends with good single track again on the East side again. Any route is good, just go ride. Other recommended trails in the same area: Only trail in the city. Alpha trail at Crystal Ridge is also good. Kettle Moraine north and south are the best in South east WI.

Weekend Warrior Summary: It a good AM trail. Love bombing the crater! It did get some heavy erosion during the flood and now there are some very sketchy rock gardens to look out for if you have a short travel hardtail. Overall, it's fun and techy. Best in Miltown.
I wouldn't worry about getting mugged as long as you can grapple and throw people with MMA skillz. My bike makes a pretty good bum ram if I carry the right speed. Just remember to lead with your helmet so as not to catch your bars on tattered hobo clothing. Recommended Route: I drop in by Auer. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hoyt is okay. Crystal Ridge/Alpha Trail is better...more speed, more climbs & drops. No bums to run over tho.

Downhiller Summary: Pretty good single track for WI, great if you live downtown Milwaukee. No huge climbs, but lots of little off shoot trails with short technical climbs and rock gardens to be found.
I live in CO now and used to ride this all the time in WI.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a pretty good trail considering it's location. It's much longer than anything else I've found without leaving the city. I wouldn't worry about getting mugged, I see single women walking dogs along the trail all the time. Broken glass could be a problem, I usually bring a cellphone. Recommended Route: I get on at the northwest corner of the north avenue bridge. Take that north all the way to Port Washington, then cross and take the east side back. This way you can take the bike path if you need to get back quick. Other recommended trails in the same area: Kettle Moraine Southern Unit

, from millwaukey/grean bay Summary: read my review for 'joel's river adventure' for expert connoisseur's analysis. again, no hills on this one. great way to improve bike handling skills, though. by the time u finish biking this trail, you'll see every kind of drug addiction known to man. cool off in sewer feces when u lose control. don't 4get 2 bring hazmat suit. seeing the geese w/ their young was a treat, but i won't be coming back here anytime soon. Recommended Route: Polish Babes shake 'em like they'll never quit Other recommended trails in the same area: approach Polish girl by saying: "czy ma pani czas?"
