A little more difficult and technical than many of the other trails in Wisconsin.

Summary:
I've been wanting to write this review for 10 years. I lived in Wi. all my life and rode Baird's since 1989. I've been there at least 500 times. I rode at least 1/2 of the trails in Wi. Moved to Tulsa 7 years ago. Rode in 4 states in 18 years and rode probably 35-40 trails and guess what?.....I miss Baird's creek BAD!!! I've driven 900 mi. the last 3 years on summer vacation to re-visit Baird's Creek (I'll be back again in 2 weeks). The "FUN" factor is unparelleled !!! It has got so much variation of terrain and fast, fun challenges that it is my "ALL TIME" favorite trail regardless of the encroachment by developers. It's like a Mtn. Bike playground (It's always changing). I HIGHLY recommend this trail !!!!!! BUT...It's not marked real well, SO either have fun "exploring" OR... contact one of the local bike shops and have someone give you a "tour" of the best trails I've ever been on !!!!! (to maximize your enjoyment level)

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Reforestation Camp (Brown County Zoo) Awesome, fast, rolling, wooded singletrack (beautiful and FUN !!!)

Summary:
Quite a bit of work was done in 2006 to re-route trails off private land. Two terrain parks have "appeared" along two of the trails, both to the east of I-43. From under the Interstate, take either left or upper right trails (not along the RR tracks) and head up. As of June 29, 2007 the trails are grown in some and no major work has been done since last year. A very small % of riders are brushing back, but more help is needed. This is a gem of a system in the heart of GB! Ride it!

Recommended Route:
Southside trail. A point to point, two way trail on the south side of the Bairds Creek, starting/ending @ Danz Ave and the RR trestle west of I-43. Trils on the North side of Bairds are mostly ski trail and ski hill. Also all of the trails East of I-43 are awesome. For a killer hill loop, look for an uptrack right across from the lower parking lot for the ski trials. There is snaking downhill on this loop that is to die for!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Reforestation Camp and Kewaunee Riverview

Summary:
There are many diverse groups which use Baird Creek Park - bikers, walkers, dog walkers, botanists (aka "weed huggers") pot smokers, teenage beer drinkers, perverts, transients, Asian and Latino gangs, drug dealers, etc. There is one group however that needs to be driven out of Baird Creek by force if necessary. I'm talking about the paint ball people. I may not like many of the groups mentioned above, but none of them sabotage mtb trails - they may be scumbags, but at least they've learned to live and let live. As long as they leave the trails alone, I can tolerate them. Not the paintballers. They run around in their silly little outfits shooting each other (and every tree in sight) with their toy guns. They cut down live trees for their little forts. They leave garbage. They've even hauled a sofa back there for one of their little forts. When they tire of playing cowboys and indians, they mess with mountainbike trails. It's only a matter of time before they are caught and severly stomped.

Recommended Route:
Death to all Baird Creek paintballers. Keep out or suffer. War has been declared on you. You brought this on yourselves.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Baird Creek will flow red with the blood of paintballers.

Summary:
This is by far the best "all around" trail in Northeast WI. features easy flat track, and suicidal down hill parts, muddy narrow cliffs, bring a friend and a good helmet. Also newly built are huge bmx jumps capable of getting you 20ft. or air time comming down from ledges.

Recommended Route:
east entrance under hwy 43 for experienced under the bridge on danz.ave for beginners

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Kewanee is fun but too many open feilds to ride through, which will kill you in the heat but offers technical parts too.

Summary:
It's a fun place to ride, but Baird Creek is a nightmare and a dream, all in one. I'll probably get "flammed" for it, but here's some FYI on the BC Parkway. BC Park land is NOT being "sold off" to developers. In fact, land is being bought to ADD TO the Parkway. The land being developed was NEVER part of the parkway to begin with. WE (all trail users) were trespassing on private property all along. Chances are, anyone that uses the parkway to this day, is still trespassing on private property. There IS a group of people that try to clean the Parkway of litter, etc. every spring (around Earthday). WE (a SMALL group of bikers) DO have workdays at the Parkway, throughout the summer. Unfortunately, most people take their "training" much more serious than the need to help out with their local trails. ANYONE out there interested in helping with workdays please contact Jonathan743@yahoo.com or (920)-743-2773. We are also looking for ANYONE interested in helping to formulate a trail plan to submit to the City of GB on behalf of all mtbr's. This entails developing a sustainable, more user friendly trail system. In the meantime; ride hard, have fun.
Jonathan

Recommended Route:
Pick a trail and go.

Brown County Reforestation Camp, Sheboygan Quarry Park, Kewaunee Winter Park/DNR Besadny Land and Riverview Park.
