Cross Country Rider Summary: Being an avid mountain biker and new to the area, I was excited by the trail description and first review of this trail. After riding it, I was disappointed to say the least. To say that this trail has challenging, technical singletrack is far from true. I rode from as far north on the Menomonee River Parkway I could find, all the way through Hoyt Park and found nothing that I wouldn't recommend to someone who was going on their first mountain bike ride. At one point, there was a 10 year old girl on an old Huffy coming from the other direction that seemed to be having an easy time with the trail.
If this is the best, most challenging stuff around, it looks like it will be road biking all the way. I sure hope I somehow missed the "technical" portion of the trail.

Cross Country Rider Summary: My favorite close-to-home trail. I've crashed twice on this trail (in 4 rides) and not any other trail in SE Wisconsin, to date, has challenged me like Hoyt Park does. Recommended Route: North of the parking lot is the longest and most technical route. South of the parking lot has the jump section. Other recommended trails in the same area: Crystal Ridge/Alpha Trail
