ash creek county forest
2 reviews
 3 of 5

The forest has about 7 miles of single and double track. Being in the driftless area of the state of Wisconsin expect some steep climbs and some bone rattling down hills. There are some extremely tight trails up on the middle ridge which will be a challenge for most riders. Trails are somewhat maintained and are not marked yet not difficult to find or follow.

Summary:
Mixture of single and ATV width track(ATV's not allowed from what I can tell). The single track is off limits to horses, so they'll stay in good shape! The single track that has been built is quite nice, ranging from fast wide open pine runs to mind numbingly tight maple twisters where track stands are more important than speed. Good mix of trails for sure. If you're in the area, its most definitely worth visiting these trails.

Recommended Route:
suggestion: MAP! map the bejesus out of your system there. We found the trails listed, but it took a bit of adventuring and back tracking. There's potentail for more as well.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Kickapoo Valley Reserve has horsetrails that are now open to Bikes. Yay! They're FUN trails. Yellow River State Forest and Decorah in Iowa. Human Power Trails in LaCrosse. Soon to come: Duck Egg Trails near Viroqua!
