Great single track, cliff hanging, hair raising stuff. Some steep hills. Sandy, rocky. Technical to easy riding. Something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit.
Summary: Levis Mound is the cat's ass! The trails at Levis/Trow offers something for everyone IMO, ski trail from easy rolling hills to steep ups and downs if you desire. Then there's the single track, everything from technical rocky benchcut to smooth and flowing. Good sand based trails that don't bog you down, eye widening cliff egde bench cut, awesome lookouts, camping at the trail head and a cheap trail pass. The crew at Levis/ Trow Mound have done an outstanding job, it's well worth the three our drive from Rockford!
Recommended Route: Yellow Jacket, Goat Dance, Upper Hermosa, Dead Turkey, Switchback, Toad Rd.. Ride Toad rd. and Switchback CCW.
Other recommended trails in the same area: John Muir, Blue Mounds.

Summary: A very diverse trail. Most of the routes on the mounds were generally pretty technical, and not recommended for people who aren't fond of steep bench cuts. The trails connecting the mounds were pretty flat, but still enjoyable. I rode on Labor Day weekend for two days and only saw 4 other riders total.
Recommended Route: Be sure to ride Cliffhanger, Toad Road, North Face, and Porky Point for the tech. Ride Yellow Jacket, Goat Dance, and the Hermosa trails for a good x-country ride.

Summary: Very cool place to ride and don’t imagine it ever gets crowded. Very well marked and most intersections with the helpful “you are here” marker.
Fair amount of sand, especially on the lower x-country ski trails, but really not to bad.
The upper sections of the mound(s) are single track, pretty darn technical and very fun. Be prepared to jump off your bike every once in a while, and hope that you’re not next to a steep drop off. Tough to get a good rhythm for any length of time but maybe that’s just because it was my first time here
Super views from the tops of the mounds.
Trailhead is right at the corner of 95 and J.
If you like to mtn bike, and are within 100 miles of this place, you should make the trip.
I’m from Chicago and I know I’ll be back.
Here is a great link that will tell you everything else you need to know, and has a bazillion pictures to get you psyched to ride.
Summary: Just focusing on the new "Sidewinder" trail located on the NW portion of the trail system. This is freshly built, ad as such, somewhat soft yet. Looks like there is about 50' to complete, but it still can all be ridden. Of all the trails here-this is by far the most scenic and offers the most exposure. It's not technical really (Save that for Toad road!) just a bit tricky and almost always on a steep bench cut sidehill. If you slide off the trail....it may take a while to stop! There are three levels of trail-meaning the route starts off traversing this mound counter clockwise, then reverses and climbs above it self clockwise-way cool and you can see the lower trail below. It is a one way trail only and starts and ends on Buck Hill near Upper hermosa. There is a 20' bridge also-spanning to rock faces-might suprise some people!
Recommended Route: Sidewinder aka: Brokeback mounatin ;) (by the trail builders...yikes, a lot of bench cut!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Goat Dance-3 mi singletrack loop. Toad Road on Levis Mound-way technical and rocky now. CliffHanger-nice climb to the top of Levis Mound.

Summary: This trail system is awesome!!! It has something for everyone, like hills, twists, turns, and ridges. I went on a weekday and only saw one other rider for the 4 hours that I was there, if only it was closer to Madison. I highly recomend it.
Recommended Route: Goat Dance.... watch out for the fallen tree's.
Other recommended trails in the same area: I normally ride John Muir at Kettle Morraine South, it's the best I can find close to Madison.
