Cross Country Rider Summary: Pick up a trail map and ride the crosscountry race course. This is a super sweet riding area with a little of everything. No big nasty climbs, but penty of climbing, a couple wicked fast downhill sections, and a few rock gardens. The trails are well maintained, extremely well marked and trail construction is ongoing with something like 30 miles currently. Recommended Route: Cross country race course about 20 miles or the 24 hours course something like 12 miles. Other recommended trails in the same area: Cooper's Rock

Cross Country Rider Summary: This place rocks. Every type of terrain you can imagine. Well worth the $5 daily fee and if you ride it much you can get a season pass.
Recommended Route: Highly recommend the 21 mile loop listed on the map you get at the gate. It will take you on almost all the trails at the Bear. Other recommended trails in the same area: Coopers Rock and WVU Forest across the road from Coopers.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Rode the Big Bear trail system based on a recommendation from a bike shop in Ohiopyle - what a great find. Trails are fast, swooping, twisty with enough rocks thrown in to keep you on your toes. Some fun rocky descents and short steep climbs with lots of rolling terrain in between. A solid intermediate ride with just a few short sections that I walked (but could be ridden by a more advanced rider). Recommended Route: We did the blue loop and the yellow loop (twice because it was so much fun) Other recommended trails in the same area: First time ridding in this area.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Rode the trail from a recomendation by a raft guide (who also recomended Coopers rock). As a beginning rider i found it mostly challenging, while my boyfriend enjoyed it very much.
We rode after a rainy night so there were lots of very smelly puddles on the trail (the place is a RV campground in a swamp). The flys swarmed the mud on our legs. Recommended Route: There are several marked trail loops and plenty of extra trails. We ended up riding the racing loop, about 20 miles.
