Cross Country Rider Summary: Try combining backpacing and fishing this ride. Many campers along the road that parallels the river, but some remote trout fishing on the W Fork and Little River. Look for the 6'6" red-head on the Gary Fisher. Expect the stonefly and caddis hatch in late March/early April, grab your bike and ride. Recommended Route: Several points to jump on the trail, for fishermen find the remote holes Other recommended trails in the same area: Go to Blackwater Bike stor in Davis, they will definitely point you in the right direction. Very challenging rides within 30 miles

, from Charleston, WV Summary: This trail follows the West Fork of the Greenbrier River from Durbin to Glady and then crosses over to the Shaver's Fork of Cheat by a tunnel. Most people avoid the tunnel because of deep standing water on the Glady end. No special surface preparation was done for trail use after the track were removed, so don't expect the smooth ride of many rail trails. Once you get three or four miles out of Durbin, there are is no habitation until you reach Glady. It is a ride along a scenic valley that once was occupied by several lumber camps that are now just names on a map (May, Burner, Wildel). Prettiet time is mid September when the valley floor is covered by gold wildflowers and the trees are starting to show some color. Forest Service 44 parallels the trail from Durbin to Glady, so shuttles are possible. One of the more scenic rail trails in WV. Recommended Route: Any portion or all of the trail. Other recommended trails in the same area: FS 17, Hingle Run Trial, Burner Mt. Trail and Span Oak Trail makes a good 18 mile loop for the more adventurous riders.
