Reviewed by: Bill Campbell , from New Martinsville WV, 26155

Summary:
The trail is a very challenging one, it is very easy when dry, but when wet and mudy can be very skillfull and difficult at times. They have out lawed trucks and 4 wheelres going out in there tearing it up. The only way you are allwed in there now is by bike or walking. The holes should be filled back in, and the trials should be a lot easier to handle. There is a lot of creek crossings thuoght it in different parts of the trail, as well as old hill climbs which are fun t ride down on a bike.

Recommended Route:
Take route 2 to north from New Martinsville, to Proctor, Take Proctor road it will be on the right side of the road. Go our Proctor road approx. 5 miles, go up the hill, after you get to the top of the hill the first road that goes to the right take it. That is called Palestine Ridge. It will be a gravel road and has a red barn at the start of it. Go out Palestine approx. 3 miles, after you get to the bottom of the hill, it will be the first turn off to the right. Cross the creek and follow the trail down into it. If you get to the small metal bridge you have gone to far, turn back t is approx. 100 yards from there. If you are driving park there besdie the creek in the open area, DO NOT PARK IN THE FIELD THE LAND OWNERS GETS REALLY MAD. When you are leaving you can come bakc ut the way you came or you can take Palestine to the right corsse the small mtal bridge and follwo it to the top of the ridge , and then you will be in Kinsley Ridge take it to the right and come abck down doolin ridge into New Martinsville, or go to the left and come back out to the bottom of Proctor hill. The way I have just given you is the back way into alleys hole, The reason I gave you this rote, is that the route Goddard used is the front way, and that way is now closed off, you have to use the back way, which is the way I gave you.

The Alleys Hole is a good choice for an offroad ride, there is another pleace out Proctor Hill as well, called Wetstone, It has been outlawed the same as alleys hole as well for trucks and 4 wheelers. Now perfect for us bikers, and hikers. If you would like directions on how to get to Wetsone e mail me and I will tell you specific intucitons on how to get there and where to go and where not to fo. I love it out there, I live in New Martinsviille beside Procor so I have ridden those trails both places a lot, and knwo them all really well. If you would like to go give me a call or e mail me and I would be ahppy to meet you and ride thenm with you, especially if you are a beginner. It will take me from my house to the bottom of Proctor Hill about 5 or 6 mintues to reach. Thanks again and happy trail riding to ya all.
