Vassault Downhill and Jump park

Very difficult downhill, with steep ravines and many jumps, that when hit at speed will send you up in the air about 7 feet!! It is an excellent downhill course with speed sections and very tight, techniacl areas too. This is one of my favorite courses and is one for anyone looking for fast, technical freeriding with a hint of dirt jumpin' freshness!!

From the Freeway- come to the park and turn right, then immediatly turn left. Park outside the metal fence. There is an opening in the fence, follow the pathway through the brush, and when the path opens there are 6 or 7 large doubles, keep following the now dusty trail to the end, there is a fairly large opening int he trees, this is the start of the downhill, and it will take you all the way down to the train tracks by the narrows.

Summary:
As of June 27, 2004 this is a work in progress. THIS TRAIL IS HARD TO FIND!!!!!This trail is pretty well designed with a nice flow, not too pedally. It is short, but it is interesting to see what the builders are planning. Expect to do some exploring, there is a large network of hobo paths surrounding the trail.

Recommended Route:
Park your car at Vassault Park in between Vassault and Pearl streets near Tacoma Narrows. Go to the Northwest corner of this large park. Head across Vassault street to the west. Enter a terrible hardpack trail that is covered in glass. This short trail sends you into a BMX dirt jumping area. (20 or so doubles and a few hips.) Immediately turn to the left and climb a little. The trail will continue south along the ridgeline. You will see a house with a pool to the south of the trail. After that, the trail takes a switchback dive into some dusty chutes. Keep an eye out for a trail entrance to the left. (White surveyors tape) (((If you reach a large hollow with a big tree and a fire ring you have gone too far, this is the boxcar hobo village, turn back.))) The trail will go up a ridiculously steep hike-a-bike with a switchback. Continue down the ridgeline and you will pass a 15ft. tall A-frame and some large ladder bridge style doubles. After the second bridge gap, the trail is unfinished.

Point defiance is pretty fun xc. If you're innovative you can jump some stuff.
