Smackdown

Average Rating:    (3.21 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 14

Located on the Pilchuck tract of the Pilchuck tree farm these trails are MT. Bike Trails only, made with permission. Many trails to choose from look for hilltops, and "MTB Only" signs or cutoffs from the logging roads. All trails are Expert with lots of drops. Smackdown is hardest to find, but is identifiable by a 100 foot granite slickrock.

Summary:
This trail doesn't exist anymore....which is why all the reviews are old. We were up in the area last week on vacation and found the overgrown remnants of what used to be the smackdown trail. There are lots of other trails in the area so it's possible that there's a shore style trail nearby.

Summary:
Ok, on the fourth try I found the trials. Finding them is getting easier with the sign posts and the toaster start right at the parking area. Trial map, waypoints, and comments available at Smackdown Very good riding for this close to I-5 and Seattle. Docked stars for the limited length of trails available and the bushy nature of Toaster. I give the area 3.5 stars. More attractive for those who like Norhtshore-type technical difficulties. These trails are mountain-bike specific trails in the manner of Northshore trails. Numerous sections of these trails are above my head (figuratively and literally). There are large drops and long log rolls. However the trails make intelligent use of local features and deserve credit for that. The trails here are short and technical. There appear to be two areas: the "Toaster" area and the more populated "Smackdown" area. The Toaster trail (0.8 miles) starts right at the car park, going to the east of the road. It's a good start, but needs a few more riders to clear out the bush. The Smackdown area is 1.4 miles almost due north on Sunde road. The trials here head west off the road, going down the west side of the hill that Sunde road climbs. Much like a ski hill, these trails break off from a trail that contours off to the west of the main Sunde road (see the "Contour" waypoint on the map). The first trail down is Foxy, which has several big drops and 2 wild log rolls. Nicely made trail. Foxy is 0.35 miles long and drops about 220 feet in that span.

Recommended Route:
Toaster then up the hill to the Smackdown area

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Victoria Tract of the Pilchuck Tree Farm.
