The Olypic Adventure Trail

24.5 miles each way on an out and back trail. Starting on the east end of the trail, near the Elwha river begin with a three mile climb that gains about 900 feet vertical, all on easy but entertaining singletrack. From there, a fire road carries you down for about 3 miles (that are very mucky this time of year) to a short, climbing and switchbacked singletrack off to th right of the fireroad. After this section commences a long-ish but fairly gentle fire road climb leading to an abandoned gravel pit and anoth mile and a half of fun, climbing singletrack. At the top of this singletrack, turn round and ride back for a 16 mile loop. Well maintained trails most of the back, with the majority be downhill singletrack. Iy you are feeling more adventurous, continue west toward the Lyre river though some tough singletrack and road climbs, with a 5 mile section of twisty singletrack (mostly)descent depositing you on a fire road 3 miles from the finish.
Not too technical, but physical a bit challenging, and some of the most beautiful riding and views that the PNW has to offer.
Summary: The above description was accurate. There has been a new section of singletrack added, starting at mile point 4.6 and leading into a pre-exisiting section of single track. Thus, the first fire road section mentioned above is now only about a mile and a half long.
The trail is not too technical, but is a good workout. I prefer to start at the West end (near the Lyre River) when doing the whole trail, about 25 miles. The section from HWY 112 and in about 8 miles is a good out and back.
The trail is generally well-maintained and a lot of fun to ride.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Foothills, Miller Peninsula, Dungeness-Gold Creek
