Southwest Passage
1 reviews
 5 of 5

Southwest Passage links two of Spokane's best trail systems - High Drive and Riverside - allowing for marathon epics. The trail skirts urban areas and pavement (almost completely). It's a challenging trail in parts, with thin and high trails, rocks and roots.

Start at the far north terminus of High Drive and take W. 7th west across S. Inland Empire and north under the High Bridges. Continue down to Latah Creek and hang a left on West Riverside for 150 yards. Take a right past the railing and stay close to the west side of Latah Creek (watch for the hard left at the red brick pumping station).

Take the trail up and past the edge of the cemetery, through the rocks, along the double track, and watch for a singletrack that heads right into the woods. Stay on that singletrack (when in doubt, stay close to river) for 3 miles or so.

Eventually, you'll come up on the paved Centennial Trail (100 yards) take the right onto Trail 100 and on into Riverside.

Summary:
My two favorite areas to ride High Drive Bluffs and Riverside State Park are linked by a challenging, little-known trail. This trail, which makes epics possible, is part of a ring of great trails and helps make Spokane a primo riding location.

Recommended Route:
Read above, hug the river.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
High Drive, Riverside, Beacon Hill.
