Racer Summary: This trail is best described as a skill builder. The whole loop is only 9.3 miles. It has two trail heads and if you running a shuttle you can go up road 3300 approximately 2 miles and run the lower portion or continue on for another three miles to the upper trail#1363. The trail is used by motos and in the summer in places can get very dusty. The trail also has some loose rock. In most places the trail is fairly wide with wide banking turns and downhill runs that rarely exceed 10 degrees. There are several tight switchbacks and for climbers the upper portion of the trail has a steep technical climb about a mile from the road. There is no wasted elevation in your descent back to Taneum Junction. If you are a cross country racer this course is similar to Schweitzer, Chelan, and Winthrop and other dry mountain courses that tend to get dusty with loose rock. There are also no spots that require dismounting going down. Recommended Route: Leaving Taneum Junction Campgrond on road 3300 ride .4 miles up the road until you get to a road veering to the left. This is the old 3300 also know as the "low road." Continue on the low road for approximately another half a mile until it forks. Stay to the right and continue for another 1.5 miles at which point the road leaves the valley and climbs back up to road 3300. Continue up 3300 for approximately 2 miles until you reach trail#1363 Taneum Ridge. The elevation gain at that point is approximately 1200 feet. Another 200 feet is gained in the first mile of the trail. Other recommended trails in the same area: Gnat Flat
Gooseberry Flat
Hoyt Mining Trail
All of the above can be shuttled and dump into Taneum Junction Campground. In addition there is Fish Hook Flat which is a loop trail of 13 miles that incorporates the first part of the Taneum Ridge Roller-the "low road."
