Cross Country Rider Summary: Reviews below are pretty accurate, the water tower hill behind Woghop Lake has some really fun downhill sections, and the climb to the top is manageable for a beginner rider. The lake has trails sprouting out of it like a hub and is a good base to explore from. There is a really short downhill section near Pierce College that if you pump like crazy you can get enough speed and clear about a 10ft gap over another trail. It was just enough fun to get me to keep riding to the top and try it over and over! Beware the blackberry bushes everywhere in this park though! Longsleeve shirt and something to protect your legs would be a good idea, there are prickly bushes everywhere. Tire guards would be a good idea too, though I don't use them and have had only a few flats in the last couple years.
Recently there has been a problem with a gang frequenting the park calling themselves "the juggalows". Apparently they attack park patrons around dusk, and have been seen with Machete's. They seem to idolize the Insane Clown Posse, and dress in a gothic style. Honestly, I think I had a run in with some, or some wannabe "juggalows" but they were just a bunch of snot nosed middle school age kids that talked alot of crap but didn't seem to want to try anything. The local newspaper is making a big deal out of it, but it doesn't worry me all that much, and hasn't kept me from riding here every now and then.
I'm giving it a 1 on Aerobic because there are no extended climbs, and it isn't very challenging unless you pump like theres no tomorrow through the entire park.
It gets a 4 for Technical because some of the downhills by the water towers are downright silly. Try them at your own risk, I am still challenged by at least one trail and I've been attempting it for 5 or 6 years. But other than that, the park is super laid back as far as mtb rides go. Recommended Route: Ride the whole park, there isn't really any loops longer than .5 miles so, link up a bunch and do your favorites over a bunch of times. Other recommended trails in the same area: Dash Point.

Downhiller Summary: Not a bad place for a quick fix. It's great for an after work ride during the summer if you live in the area. There is little bit of riding for everyone.
The dirt jumps were leveled sometime last week. I've been riding there a couple of years and they have always been there. I'm not sure why they have been removed after all this time. I guess people were having too much fun. Recommended Route: The downhill trails near the water tower Other recommended trails in the same area: Victor Falls

Cross Country Rider Summary: Fort Steilicoom Park is a great place for any mountain biker. It doesnt matter if you are an expert or a beginner, it is really fun. There are some real technical stuff on the south and east sides, but as you move over to the west side where are the soccer and baseball fields, the ride becomes somewhat flat and very easy. I have been riding in this place for the last 2 years and the place does not get old. If you climb up to the very last water tower and over to the bench on the eastside next to farwest drive, you can see the Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, The olympic mountains, and anderson island! My buddy and I like to go there in the summer or when ever it is not that cold outside and ride. he rides and BMX and still handles some of the more challenging terrain. Now if you are a BMXer like he is, then there are bike jumps over near the yellow gate. You go into the left and they will be right there. My last thing is, if you would like to ride in an open space with not alot of people around, GET THERE EARLY IN THE MORNING, or go on a very cold day. There will be lots of walkers and joggers by noon. Recommended Route: All the trails! Other recommended trails in the same area: Anderson Island or the Oakbrook area

, from Union City, CA Summary: I used to ride this trail with friends when I first got into MTB. This place can be fun. Nice short downhills and steady climbs. Can be challenging for a newbie and a quick workout for the experienced. Enjoy the ride. Recommended Route: All of them. Not a very long ride. Other recommended trails in the same area: Head up to Snoqualmie Pass in the summer and take the chairs up.
