Cross Country Rider Summary: Ranger Creek is a pretty good trail. A little tedious but a decent trail downwards. Some of those switchbacks are rediculous. They could be fixed so as not to screw the flow up. We enjoyed the lower half where there is more on the bike riding and some mixture of roots and rocks to rule. My seatpost clamp broke on the lower half and I had to finish the trail standing up. I also endo'd with the seatpost chasing me over! I got about an 8 for the flip over rated by my Buds.
We were going to pedal up to the trail head by using the dirt road. We had to push our bikes up 5.5 miles. Never, never will we do that again. The only way to go is to shuttle up. If anyone tells you other wise, tell them to piss off for me. If you feel it is an accomplishment or test of manhood to do so, go stroke your ego's elsewhere. I'm not impressed, just permently traumatized.
If you have a fear of heights biker beware. You will be along drop offs. I was intimidated on certain parts but made it through. Drops thrill me. Drop offs don't. Recommended Route: We took Zilly's route in his book. To ride up Corral pass road is hardcore. To do that and then the trail is self-abuse. Zilly gives a very accurate assessment and warning in his book of doing the ride as he puts it to you. I will pay better attention to that in any future uphill grinds in his book. Other recommended trails in the same area: Skookum. In another area do Little Bald Mountain. So much flow on this and way under ridden. Trust me and do it. Shuttle up to the trail too. Best downhill flow I've been on.

Weekend Warrior Summary: a great ride for earning your turns. had time constraints so i pedaled up 4.5 mi. & then back down. as good as it gets for a downhill that you've got to pedal for. the upper section is a little on the skinny side ,but around the "little ranger peak view trail" it opens up enough so you can relax and let it go w/o concentrating on not going off the trail as much as above. if you like pedalling up with a few challenging moves thrown in here & there with a downhill payoff , this is it. the switchbacks are more doable going up than down, but down you've got a short runout to stop & turn around & checkout the size of the smile on everybody's face. the trail is in perfect shape right now.
get it! Recommended Route: for the route i described park across the hiway from Buck Crk. bridge @ the base of White River Rambler/Ranger Peak & head to your right as you look up @ the trail. you'll be climbing almost immediately w/ a real challenge within minutes. parking there is free & legal! Other recommended trails in the same area: EVERYTHING--Cascade mtn.biking at it's best on the wet side!

Weekend Warrior Summary: Ranger Creek is open and all blowdowns are gone. !!! I was told by some hikers that Deep Creek trail is cleared as well. So any of you who want to ride up Deep Creek and cruise down Ranger go for it. Us old dudes will take the fire road up. Recommended Route: Follow the directions in Zilly's book and or get a Green Trails map a compass and go to it !! Other recommended trails in the same area: Also recommend Skookum Flats BUT park at road 73 and ride the east side of 410 first. That way you do the uphill while you are still fresh. OR.... park at road 73 and do the ride out and back. With a good map there should be no route finding issues.

, from kenmore Summary: ranger creek is my fave trail of all the rides in the area. if it where not for the views the dalls ridge trail is really nothing special. i recomend taking the left at the cabin and blazing down there. very fast sections, lots and lots of jumps. and the Down Hill is never ending till ya get to buck creek. ranger creek is my fave trail in washington. my second fave trail is devils gulch. Recommended Route: for the freeriders: park at the bottom of scookem flats ( spelling ) and shuttle up coral pass, shred ranger creek and pop out at the buck creek parking area and bomb down scookem flats to the car. with the shuttle your still looking at about 4 hours of riding. people on sub 30 lbs bikes usaly dont understand shuttling, and i have been scoffed at for it. but i dont care. i say if your to tired or your ass hurts to much to climb 4000 feet... go for it and dont listen to the skinny biked lycra wairing snobs. do what ya wanna and have fun Other recommended trails in the same area: you'v seen em

Weekend Warrior Summary: Corral Pass and the ride along Dalles Ridge to Ranger Creek have some awesome scenery, including spectacular views of MT Rainier. The Ranger Creek trail itself switchbacks down a very steep hillside for 7 miles back to Hwy 410. The trail is generally smooth and non-technical. It does contain numerous 180 degree switchbacks, most of which in the upper sections cannot be cleaned except by someone particularly gifted.
I give the ride good marks for scenery and a killer climb. Recommended Route: Up FS 7174 to Corral Pass (3000 foot climb in less than 6 miles. Follow the signs along Dalles Ridge to Knoble Nob (about 4 miles). The trail at this juncture is closed to MTB. Take the Ranger Creek fork to the left and follow it along the ridge until you see the sign at Ranger Creek going downhill. Other recommended trails in the same area: Sun Top is a better loop.
