Summary:
Those of you that wrote bad reviews did not look hard enough or ride long enough! I found some new trails that look amazing, unfortunately we rode them UP. Might call in sick tomorrow and find that gem! On the way back found others worth riding but nothing as promising as the Bluff. Good job to those who care for the trails.

Recommended Route:
Look hard.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Gibbs lake, Anderson lake.

Summary:
The single track here is intermediate , windy and fun. Unfortunately to ride it you have to navigate often muddy ( tire clogging) and at times, extremely waterlogged forest roads. The whole loop is about 7.5 miles with great beach views midway. Still, being a mountain biker you shouldn't let the mud deter you . I believe there are other ways to return from the beach and maybe more trail that I haven't discovered.

Recommended Route:
Starts with a climb on dry double track until a left turn marked beach . Short stretch of single track takes you back to wet double track . Follow signs for beach. At about a mile and a half you reach the bluff trail which is intermediate windy single track for about two miles. Watch for the left turn midway. Eventually desends to muddy gully to beach. Great view of Protection Island. There are several ways back . I have always taken the forest roads, which are pretty wet. Download pdf at http://homepage.mac.com/stuart_macrae/FileSharing33.html Double track ( in Blue ) is often water logged. Single track ( in Red ) is intermediate

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Gold Creek, many and varied Trails in & around Port Townsend

good place to put in some miles.mostly old fire roads. the good trails are kind of hard to find. the best trail has lots of roots and switchbacks.the road up from the beach is a leg burner when muddy.

Summary:
for sure the 1st reviewer didn't take this route.the bluff trail is not for beginners.intrmd.& advanced will
be challenged.there are short stretches of downhill
speed in the 20's on other secs. away from bluffs and
good climbs also.bluff trail is semi-tech. tightly winding through trees w/ rolly terrain. last bit to beach is steeper w/ speed & switchbacks. you end up @ a great beach.you take the bluffs trail back & you will
definately be burning the lungs & legs.i didn't since
it was my 1st time & i was exploring.apprx. 8+ mi.

Recommended Route:
park 1/10th m. past burling rd. take single track up hill & stay left as you head to bluff edge single track
make your way to beach.go back up past bluff route on
right & follow rights till back on bluff single track
making your way back to car.

Summary:
This has to be the most wheel chair accessible trail my buddies and I have ever had the privelege of riding if you happen to be in the area and its your sons first time riding without training wheels I would recommend this trail without even a second thought.
Even the rocks have been courtesly removed and placed off to the side for you. Ya I give 2 thumbs up to the master trail maker that made this the safest trail I have ever ridden in my life!

Recommended Route:
Any route but the route to this trailhead!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The highway heading away from this trail!
