Summary:
I actually live on this trail , so its the trail I ride the most and test my new equipment on. This trail is always full of surprises like new gravel sections, new creek crossings and near waist deep puddles. This trail can be technical at times but theres always an easier way around such difficulties. This trail sucks at displacing water! If its rained recently expect to get wet and muddy there about a 9 in 10 chance of crashing here if its wet. ALso please dont be stupid on this trail, it iis shared by Horses and bikers, it is not cool when a horse gets spooked. Again use your head when crossing difficult run, if its flooded dont do it. Last year some idiot tried to and the Firefighters had to go through my yard to get dwon there and throw rope lines to the guy. In addition to almost losing his life he lost his bike. If its flooded you can get back to route 7 through my backyard if need be. I made my own trail throught the forest to the trail Look for black matting over a fallen tree and an old mailbox post. Thats my house just go up the hill and youll fidn route from there. If you get lost just follow your ear. Despite all that this trail is hella fun. Some short hills and down hill sections. but the majority of the ride is flat and avoiding huggggggggeee puddles. Seriously the puddles look like lap pools. Everynow and then i restore the trail around my section, Ive laid down logs and built a few jumps on the side. I love this trail ive grown up on it for the last 9 years from my huffy to my new K2 bike this trail has new let me down and is always full of surprises. Im giving it a 4 because its always wet . Especially this year.

Recommended Route:
Take route 7 either to Reston, Lake Fairfax Park, or R on colvin run mill then make an immediate rt you will come to a water sanitization plant or something. Plenty of parking, no one to mess with your car. Great place for a date.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are no real trails aroumd here, everything is getting paved or gravel now because of all the new houses. But go to the field at baren cameron Theres a set of jumps behind field 1

Summary:
The trail entrance by the ice-rink leads to a long, smooth downhill that can be ridden as fast as your nerve will let you. This trail has nothing too technical, just lots of speed. There are a few creek crossings and a couple of short, somewhat steep, climbs. The trails seems to end at this soccer field, but make a left, go down the paved road, down a hill and through the park past all the central americans, and the trail continues. After Rt 7, there's nothing exciting to ride. The ride back towards Reston is great - there is this long, fast downhill that will have the wind roaring in your ears and tears streaking back to your sideburns. Watch out for heros on their hybrid beach-cruiser bikes wearing elbow pads standing in the middle of the trail fixing the chin-strap on their girlfriend's helmet. It's almost like they want to get run over. Keep your eyes way up the trail. This trail is great for a quick adreneline fix.

Recommended Route:
Reston. Sunset Hills to Michael Faraday. Park by the ice-skating rink, act like a beast mountain biker in front of the milfs driving their SUVs, hit the trail hauling ass.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
defintely not the C&O canal trail

Summary:
Difficult Run will go all the way to Great Falls on the Potomac River. Many off branchs to other spots. Good climbs, tree crossings and creek (not river) crossings. Not too many rocks. Sections for novice (me) and hard core. Love the climbing parts.

Recommended Route:
Start from Reston, as this section has great climbs.

Summary:
Lots of fast single track. There are a few jumps here and there. The creek crossing are fun. If you have never ridden the trail before it is difficult to find your way as the trail is disconnected in a few places because of new development. It goes a pretty good distance. Best to ride with someone who knows the trail, or be ready to do some exploration. Bottom line its a fun ride. I hit the trail several times a week. enjoy

Recommended Route:
Enter great falls end or ride down W&OD and drop in on teh west side of the bridge. The trail head is close to the water.

Summary:
This trail is fun, easy, fun, and easy. And fun. Caution: Slippery when wet. Very fast, creek crossings are fun, lots of dead end trails to people's back yards though. Sometimes there are horses, but unlike what other people have said, don't get off your bicycle to pass them. Make the jockey get off his horse. I think horses are kinda boring personaly. Their poop smells too. They're just too big. Have you ever noticed the flys that are always on there arses?

Recommended Route:
Drop in off W&OD.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Wakefield, Micheal Faraday, Vienna,
