Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Cross Country Rider Summary: Nice rolling terrain with some small climbs and smooth trails. Kind of a "playground" like atmosphere and some parts are reminiscent of bmx. Some of the switchbacks are too tight to really let it rip. Trail is very well taken care of and gets high marks for that. Trail is good for all skill levels. Not sure why advanced riders only are recommended. There is nothing very technical or rocky and no big drops. I think this is a perfect trail for somebody to learn about mountain biking before taking on an epic trail like the sorts of Brush mountain or Douthat State park. Good place for my rigid single. Recommended Route: Start at the first old barn you come to on the right, (there is no white farmhouse at the trail head). You will see signs and orange flagging that designate the trail. I road all of those and as many white, blue, yellow trails that I could find. For my first time, with stopping to make sure I was going in the right direction, I think I rode all the trails because I ended up where I started and it took me a tad over an hour so it's not much but it was fun. Great job of building these trails and I thank you! Other recommended trails in the same area: I usually road bike when I visit this area.
I ride the New River trail with my 72 yo dad 30 or so miles when I get down there. We can really get moving on that flat trail.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Living less than a half mile from this trail i like to ride it quite often. It's a great trail with many natural obstacles such as: small creeks, logs, rock jumps, rock gardens, and even a few drops. I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a challenging yet fun ride. Recommended Route: I prefer the reverse direction myself, but the clockwise direction is also good. Other recommended trails in the same area: Creeper Trail, and the New River Trail

Weekend Warrior Summary: Up to over 8 miles now (maybe even 9). Constantly being improved upon and ridden so the condition is excellent. Lots of great uphills switching back and forth through the mountains, loads of downhill and flats. Amazing log crossings, gravity drops, creek crossings and other natural style obstacles. The trail feels extremely natural and flows from one section to another.
Some of the obstacles and hills can be quite challenging and inexperienced riders may do a good bit of hike-a-bike, but this is an amazing place to build up your legs, lungs, and technique (all at the same time)!
Recommended Route: I have ridden this trail several times but only in the clockwise direction in which it is designated. However, the trail can be ridden backwards and many of the more advanced locals even prefer this direction. If you have never ridden the trail definitely do it forward.
From the parking area look for the opening in the fence by the barn and follow the single track down the hill to the woods, signs are posted pointing you in the right direction. Other recommended trails in the same area: Fisher River @ Dobson, NC
Westwood Park @ Mt. Airy, NC
Hungry Mother Park @ Marion, VA

Cross Country Rider Summary: I was in Galax on business and hit this trail after work. What a blast! Being from the flatlands (Richmond) some of the climbs were lung busters but well worth the effort. Trail flow and construction is excellent and the trail marking is dead own. One section goes through a stand of large white pines and you could almost imagine being out west. Kudos to the trail gnomes.
