Weekend Warrior Summary: I really enjoyed this trail. EVMA thank you. This trail IMHO is the most well designed and fun trail in eastern Virginia. I've ridden all the EVMA designed trails on the Virgina Peninsula numerous times and I enjoy this one the most. It makes great use of the existing terrain and flows well. Though not really a long trails, it has some great long downhills and fun climbs, the best on the Peninsula. Switchbacks make the climbs enjoyable and challenging. The only thing I didn't like is the park's proximity to acitve hunting areas(there are signs warning you of this, and not to wander off the trails into adjacent areas). I heard 5-6 gunshots nearby while on the trail. Recommended Route: I rode it counter clockwise Other recommended trails in the same area: York River State Park, New Quarter

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail system has a surprising amount of climbing, downhill, and technical features all packed into a small area. The climbs are longer than York River and there are at least 3 downhills longer and more fun than everyone's favorite at Freedom. It's the best all-around trail in the area. The only possible improvement would be to make it longer.
The trail can be ridden in either direction and is hike/bike, so be alert. Here is a link to a map but it currently doesn't show all the trail.
http://www.co.new-kent.va.us/parks/facilities/WAHRANI06.pdf Recommended Route: Counter-clockwise from the trailhead, go right or straight at all the intersections. Cross the power lines and after an extended climb and a steep technical downhill, turn right and cross a bridge to get to the blue section (lollypop). For a long gradual climb go right at the intersection, or for a short gasping climb go left. Either way brings you to a lookout point with a bench looking towards Westpoint. When you've done the lollypop, go back across the bridge, turn right and cross the powerlines again. Look for the "bike" signs to get back to the trailhead. Now turn around and go back until you go over the bridge that angles up. Turn right onto the section with white markers on the trees and follow it to the top. Turn right at intersection and after a short climb you are at the top of the fastest and most fun downhill. Hop off the right side of the long bridge at the bottom of the downhill and follow trail back to trailhead. If you have energy left, ride the trail clockwise. The climbs are tougher in this direction. Other recommended trails in the same area: Marl's Ravine at York River State Park
Patriot's Ride at Freedom Park
Redoubt Run at New Quarter Park

Cross Country Rider Summary: Awesome new XC trail by EVMA. I find this trail to be the most technically challenging in the area. Lots of tight flowing switchbacks interspersed with short steep climbs and plenty of off-chamber. You can’t ride this one on autopilot. The flow is still fairly consistent, but there are more places where you have to really focus. Several bridge crossings and short step, winding climbs require your undivided attention. A couple fairly long climbs (as compared to other local trails). Ground is soft (for now). Traction is great. EVMA seemed to take the best of many of the other local trails and build them into this one. Nice job.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Excellent single track trail with lots of climbing. Great vista for the tidewater area. Longer climbs that York River State Park and some good downhills. A very good aerobic work out and some nice technical challanges. Other recommended trails in the same area: Freedom Park, Williamsburg

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is my new favorite! The hills are steep and twisty, wich makes them more technical than most trails in this area. This trail is a good workout in either direction. The switchbacks are lots of fun. The trail makes very good use of the terrain, while still being sustainable. Good job EVMA. Recommended Route: First do the outer loop by making all right turns, this would be counterclockwise. Then go clockwise by making left turns. Then use the middle trails to do a figure 8. Other recommended trails in the same area: York river, New Quarter, Freedom, Uppercounty
