Ridden Trail: Once a week

Racer Summary: Over 15 miles of trails are woven through the hills of Marine Corps Base Quantico. With a mixture of firebreak roads and technical single track a cross country rider should be significantly challenged. All mountain riders will likely be disappointed by the lack of jumps and long down hills. Each trail is well marked but it is still easy to get lost. Bring a map! If you are looking for a great work out this is the best trail in the area. The climbs are longer than Fountain Head and there are less roots and rocks to deal with. Overall, this is a great place to ride. Recommended Route: Go to www.quanticomtb.org. Their website has a comprehensive trail map that highlights the race loop used for the Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series. This race loop is approximately 10 miles with almost 5,000 feet of climbing. I know it's is hard to believe but the short ups and downs add up quickly. I recommend starting at the Child Development Center (CDC) because there is a parking lot there and there is a large trail map at the trail head. Other recommended trails in the same area: Fountain Head and Wakefield

Cross Country Rider Summary: I never have ridden these trails, just lots and lots of running through them. South and West of the Officer Candidate School there are many great single track trails that shoot off of the main fire roads. These trails are tough on foot and would be pretty technical and potentially muddy in places. Recommended Route: West or South West side of OCS school. Just go explore. Other recommended trails in the same area: Even better trails across the 95. You will need to be DOD or FBI to get in there. Start at The Basic school and head out to the north.
