Angler's Ridge Trail System
23 reviews
 4.52 of 5

The Angler's Ridge Trail System is a new trail system which weaves it's way throughout the new "CyberPark" industrial park just southwest of the Danville Regional Airport. Using the old gravel farm roads as a backbone, IMBA-inspired singletrack has been constructed throughout the park. Over 6 miles of wooded singletrack with multiple creek crossings and log crossings await.

These trails were used to host Danville's first-ever MTB race held in September of 2003 as part of the Virginia Derailer Race Series. The race loop includes almost every trail including "Little Pisgah", "Slingshot", "Hot Tamale", "Screaming Eagle", and "Angler's Ridge Trail".

Thanks to the Southern Virginia Mountain Bike Association for their hard work and dedication and their great partnership with Danville's Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. The SVMBA leads great club rides every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. They can be contacted through e-mail at svmba@adelphia.net.

Summary:
The trails are laid out well, but could use some better marking. They are technically diverse and if rode both ways can provide an entire day of mountain biking fun.

If you stop at the Danville Area Welcome Center (on River Park Drive, not far from the trail heads) they can provide you a map of both the mountain bike park and the green way. Definitely a must if you are not going with someone who knows the trails.

Recommended Route:
Ride them all, forwards and backwards!

Very cool single track. Nice flow. Ride everything both ways to get the goodies on all sections. well worth the hour and a half drive. A lot of fun creek crossings. two trails in particular worth the drive imo crooked stick and one that you will just have to find.

Recommended Route:
Print a map off. Must hits Crooked Sticks, Hot Tamale, its all good.

Summary:
I only had a chance to ride these trails for about 45 minutes. What I did ride rocked. Great flow and the faster you rode the more technical it became. I live 2 hrs away but will make a return trip to ride everything. Definitely check these trails out you wont be disappointed. My only suggestion is there weren't any maps to take and the map at the trailhead was tough to read. There might be a map online that I need to search for. However, the trails are well marked so I never felt lost or spent much time backtracking.

I think I ruptured something; holy crap this is a fun trail. Lots of miles, varied terrain, and some tough climbs. If you don't like this one stay on the greenway.

Summary:
Rode these trails for the first time this weekend and had a Great time. Met with some of the SVMBA members (including their president) and got a real tour of the place. This was some of the best riding I've had in a while. Being that we had riders giving us a guided tour, we rode some of the most well laid out routes I've ridden in some time. Great Flow! I highly recommend riding these trails. I just hate that I'm not closer to Danville.
