Little Pisgah
3 reviews
4.67 of 5
Little Pisgah is part of a larger trail system that incorportates single track, fire roads, creek crossings and fun downhills. Intermediate trail but begginners can handle it. Danville's first race was held here!!
From Highway 58 or highway 29, take the Dan Daniel Park exit and follow the brown boat landing signs until you reach Anglers park. Kiosk is in parking lot and should give directions around the 5.5 mile loop.
Summary: Danville, Virginia....how do I describe the mentality of this area? Without going into detail, I wouldn't hesitate to say that, generally, the locals are resistant to change and reluctant to participate in sports. Unless of course you consider watching NASCAR a sport. Well, there are a few brave souls here in Danville and they have put together one fine mountain bike trail system. Trail building is on going but at this point you can ride several different routes/loops. Really, this trail is a gem in an area that is not even supported by a local bike shop! And don't be mislead if you come to ride this trail, your aerobic conditioning and you bike handling skills will be tested...but I guarantee you will leave with that kind of smile on your face that comes from accomplishing a difficult task. Please note that the ratings for the aerobic and technical difficulty are based on my own lack of both. Adjust accordingly.
Also, this trail will be the course for race #4 of the Virginia Derailer series on September 18, 2004.
Recommended Route: Pick and choose. There are maps posted throughout the trail but, honestly, the best way to get around is still to have a local show you.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Owl's Roost in Greensboro, NC.

Summary: I must say that this is a great little piece of singletrack in Danville, I was really impressed with this. The trail isn't all that long but there are some great little technical tight singlettrack in there. I must say thanks for the people that put in a lot of labor to get this trail to where it is right now, it looks great and thanks for all the hard work. I think that this will bring more people into mountain biking in the Danville area and that is a great thing..
Recommended Route: Signs are up but I had a local show me around and that my friends is the way to go, thanks Scott B...
