Summary:
MrVenkMan is a loser. This trail is tough and technical, but worth the effort. Fabulous downhill. The whole loop can be ridden in 30-40 minutes. 25 minutes is the record......

Recommended Route:
Turn left. Tops out to a small downhill. Sttep pitch up, long fast downhill down.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
None, stay out of the forest.. Go ride O-hill or that other lame place in Cville. Stay in Fairfax. Don't come to Harrisonburg. The riding too tough for you bi-atches anyway...

Ridden Once

Reviewed by: Michael Cross , from Charlottesville, Va.

Summary:
If you ride the trail this way the climb up is more gradual (most of it is duable). The return trip downhill is not quite as steep, but lasts a lot longer. It looked to me like there has been some recent trail maintenance to widen some eroded areas. I think this is a "must ride" trail if you are in the Ramsey's Draft area.

Recommended Route:
Try the left fork at the bottom of the mountain and ride up to the top (about 2/3rds of the way around the total loop). When the trail looks like it is starting to head downhill, turn around and ride down the way you just came up.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
This ride can easily be combined with others in the area: North River Gorge Trail, Narrowback Ridge, Hankey Mtn., Dowells Draft, Lookout Mtn.

Summary:
I didn't like it. It was really a hiking trail that found it's way into a book. It was a difficult ride with stream crossings leading into uphill battles. After slipping and falling twice (once into a creek) I packed it in an didn't finish. Really broke my spirit, too.

Recommended Route:
Either way, it's a loop.
