there are some main trails. but when you find the singles it is really awsome. they have easy, dificult, and most dificult. very fun. not good to ride if it is wet because of roots. the most diff. has tons of huge dips, like giant ditches. at least 6 to 7 feet deep. great stuff. can't wait to drive. that would be the first place to go with my friends. not the mall.
Summary: The trail system has been up-date with some reroutes and new sections on Lakeveiw( there are now 3 different Lakeveiws) for a total of about 15 miles, and the Lil Wva section as had mileage added plus some more tecchnical stuff added
Recommended Route: Depending on how much you want to ride, I would do the Lil Wva and other red trail( both are technical)(red and double red) before the Lakeveiws, or do the lakeveiws and if you still have time/or energy do the Tall oaks( blue) trail, box turtle( green) trails.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Buttermilk, poorfarm, powhite park

Summary: I have ridden Pocahontas twice. I really like the "little west virginia" section. Nice tech stuff there...not too crazy, not too easy. The lakeside trail...well, the technical offshoots were fun...can't imagine all of the back breaking work that went into making them. But, for me, the lakeside trail was mostly boring except for the short offshoots.
The trail system here doesn't have any lung busting climbs that I have seen..thus my aerobic rating of only 3...though if you ride with some fast folks as I did...it can easily be a 5. Tech rating...well, nothing here too scary, just fun...and it certainly is nice to ride something that isn't just pure XC. I am giving it a 4 for tech just becasue there isn't a whole lot of tech anywhere else nearby and by default is the most technically challenging/fun (at least the little west va portion) that is within a 2.5 hour drive of the tidewater (Hampton/Norfolk/Va Beach) area. Overall, I give it a 5 becasue you can certainly have some fun without the typcial 2-3 hour lung busting climb for 15 minutes of fun.
Recommended Route: If you can find a local, as them which one is the "little west virgnia" section. I can't remember how we found it, but if you ride here...you gotta ride that section.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Buttermilk
Summary: There are thre trail systems in the park: 50 miles of fireroads, 12 miles old single track, and the Lakeview trails. If you want aerobic bigring fitness then hit the fireroads. If you want tight twisting single track then hit the old trails. Last if you want something in between tight and twisting and bigring fireroads then ride the Lakeview trails.
Recommended Route: Park at the pool and ride the blue trail once then ride the Lakeview trail for a total of 14 miles of single track and another 3 miles of fireroads.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Powhite Park and JRPS/FHP.

Summary: Great place to ride. Something for everyone, technical single track or wide open fire roads and everything in between. The new Lakeview single track is the best of the single track, but the red, blue and green trails will keep you entertained as well. Recommend this place for a great day in the woods.
Recommended Route: Lakeview, Red, Blue, Double Red, Green, and the numerous fire roads will keep you busy for days.
Other recommended trails in the same area: James River Park Trails and Pettersburg National Battlefield.
Summary: this is a review of the ew Lakeview trail, located on the other side of the park from the other single track.
its a 5+ mile intermediate trail with optional off shoots of expert that lead back into the main trail. I found the technicalty of it to be just right for me. not easy enough to take my mind off the trail but not so difficult I lost interest either. name the natural feature and its there, from log piles to rockgardens, to creek crossings to skinny bridges, to whoopty doos, to off camber rooty turns, to steep climbs to short steep downhills with lots of twists etc.. if you are looking for a challenge with great views of the flora, fauna and a lake, check this trail out. it will have you grinning for 5+ miles and wanting to do it all again. the Powhatan trail, which it shoots off from, is a great way to warm up on the way it too with its leg burning climbs.I espsecially like the fact that you can easily access it from the campground via the Powhatan trail
Recommended Route: the trail head if off the Powhatan trail but it can be accessed from several spots in the park. Id recomemnd parking at the Heritage museum lot and going from there but some may want a longer way to enter Powhatan trail
Other recommended trails in the same area: the original 12 miles of singltrack are still there, the Fendly station trail is a great long fireroad, Forest exploration. though double track it is fast and challenging
