Peters-Mill 4-WD Trail

It is one of the sweetest trails you can ride. You should have someone meet you or at the end or have two cars park and park one at the end. I reccomend starting from the Edinburg Gap area and going north towards Woodstock. You will want to park in the dirt parking lot and go across the street on to the trail. The first two miles is barely rideable to hike-a-bike, The first two miles will make you question your skills, sanity, and why you are wearing XC shoes, but holy crap, it goes to 6 miles of SWEEET downhill. Perfect for the DH'ers to bomb, or newbies to get technical. It is about a 3 1/2 hour ride if you go at a decent pace.
Summary: The Massanutten trail rocks!!!! It's rocky, but ridable, terrain that will test any person. You will come to 3 intersections, just stay on the orange trail(Massanutten trail) until you get to the Peters-Mill trail. The first several miles are slightly downhill. However, after the seventh mile or so, there is a three mile steady rocky climb. The last 2 miles are downhill to the ATV trail. Once your on the ATV trail you have to bike up some steep hills. After that the rest is downhill where you can realy fly and catch some super jumps. Stay on the ATV trail until you get to the ATV parking area and then take a left onto 758 back to the car (about a mile). This loop should take about 3 hours for the advanced rider. The last rider needs to keep riding the Massanutten trials to improve his skills and then he will come to love the Massanutten trails.
Recommended Route: Start at the Woodstock Tower parking lot and head up the Massanutten trail for about 11 miles to Peters-Mill AVT trail. Take this trail back to the ATV parking area just below Woodstock Tower on 758. Loop is about 20 or so miles.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Elixabeth Furnace, Veach Gap, Duncon Hollow - all Massanutten trails.

Summary: Great trail. Mostly beaten down dirt road with awesome lines for MTB. Will not raattle your teeth out of your head like every other trail in VA!!!!! From woodstock tower go down on 758 and turn left into ATV parking lot and enjoy. As you get close to Edinburg gap (after climbing 6 miles) you then bomb downsome pretty steep hills before coming out at Edinburg gap - restrooms are located there but no H2O that I could find. Turn around and as the post above says the Edinburg gap climb going back is heck. But you are rewarded with a great dwonhill. Watch out for the ATVers and throttle twisters - but other than that it is a blast.
Recommended Route: Start at woodstock tower and have mucho funo at the end with a 6 mile downhill. Start at Edinburg Gap and you have 6 mile climb at the end!!!
Other recommended trails in the same area: DO not ride the Massanutten trial - I mean jumble or rocks trail.
