Cross Country Rider Summary: Carvin's is a hoot. the locals have done an OUTSTANDing job with their focused and 1st class trail work. Every time I visit I am blown away with the new and fun sections they have added or improved. We are so lucky to have 1st rate riding like this here in SW Virginia. Recommended Route: FunHouse lives up to the name. Race your buddies down Hi-Dee-Ho. Last one down buys the beer. Other recommended trails in the same area: Mountain Lake Conservancy Trail System ... www.MtnLakeConservancy.org

Cross Country Rider Summary: Carvin's has a vast network of trails for all abilities. The trail system really wicks water away well for trail riding quickly after rain but watch out for horse traffic (at least on the mountain side, don't know about the lower trails). Some trails (Buck) have been really messed up with hoof traffic. The newest trail (connector) is going along real well with work currently be done on a bridge of three ravines. The connector trail hasn't been added to any maps that I have seen but connects Hi-De-Hoe to the main fire road.
It is a pay to ride trail system but well worth the money. Daily or yearly passes can be picked up at Just the Right Gear (www.justtherightgear.com) or the Ranger Station on the marina side. Recommended Route: Many different variations depending on what you are looking for.
Largest Elevation gain/loss: Gaunlet, Trough, Bucks Rutt, Clown Head and Hi-De-Ho .. Fire Road is a little over 1100 ft climb base to top. Other recommended trails in the same area: Douthat State Park, Explore Park, Dragon's Back and Pandapas Pond
