BOARDWALK
4 reviews
 2.25 of 5

This isnt really a trail...just a nice relaxing paved route along the beach. You can take it to the road and ride out to 64th street (Seashore State Park) which is a pretty crappy ride again, but for you VA beach natives that dont feel like driving out past richmond for real terrain, this is probably well enough for you. In the summer this is crowded like a mofo and you will probably run over some tourists or their children (GOOD, I hate tourists). If you damage your bike running over a tourist hopefully one of the incredibly hot bikini clad babes with feel some deep sympathy for you and walk you back to your house or something. The only real plus here is the scenery and the bathing suits on the women (or men...whichever way your door swings). You can chain your bike to the boardwalk railing very securely, but it might be stripped like a bimmer in the bronx when you get back. If you can't find solice in the fact you are riding next to the beautiful ocean, like i said before, there are plenty of women out there that would be happy to double up on your bike and ride home with you. good luck

Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
I live less than a mile from the boardwalk. I cruise this about 3 times a week. I normally ride it between 10pm and 2am. If you want to do some jibbing (as some would call it) you can find some gaps here, alot of 3 foot drops. This includes hotel stairs, city stages, and without fail the front steps of the old Cavalier at 41st. Ha, stop by Chichos for more than just pizza... include the ladies and beer.

Recommended Route:
Just cruise...

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Hit up York River and Waller Mill, but also Ipswich is cool for being so close to the ocean.

Summary:
great "trail" to cruise on yer ol' skool single speed. just be sure to go at a snails pace on the boardwalk so the cops will leave ya alone. there's actually a designated bike path parallel to it. definitely stop by Chichos to get yer obligatory post-ride pizza n' cerveza groove on.

Recommended Route:
roll where the honies are...

Summary:
I rode again today...would have to say, its already starting to get packed. There are a few neats drops and stair sets you can try if you feel daring enough and there arent too many people around...as you go down the boardwalk just look for little obstacles to the side to make your ride a little more interesting.

Recommended Route:
same as above

Other recommended trails in the same area:
sandbridge...uhhh some off dam neck
