Summary:
Great trail with some steep climbs. There are dirt jumps built on the power lines next to the rolling road entrance. The real fun is when you cross into Wakefield park from here via the cross county trail. Great well maintained single track with a berm section, and racetrack section on the Wakefield power lines. Just outside Wakefield park on the cross county trail you will find the 495 jumps. They are just off the CCT on the right (under little River Turnpike and they back up against Rt. 495). These jumps are MONSTERS. Beginner and advanced sections. Advanced are freakin silly, wear a helmet.

Recommended Route:
I ride in off little river turnpike and ride from the 495 jumps, through Wakefield park, across the cross county trail, and into lake acotink , finishing up at the jumps out on the power lines in the neighborhood.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fountainhead Park

Summary:
Can't believe no one has reviewed this trail in over 2 years! I haven't bothered to read all the reviews so far, so I'm just going to post.

Anyway, a fun system of trails. A little more technical than Wakefield, and a nice change. Some short steep drops and rolldowns can be found alongside the larger path. Home to the "airport drop" as my friends and I refer to it--hit it with enough speed and you launch off an 8 foot drop to flat. (Most simply roll down it). Probably 6-8 miles of singletrack, plenty of log hops, short climbs, rollers, roots, etc. Look for "mother tree" while you're there. It's off to the side of the trail--about a 2.5 foot diameter tree with log ramps up to it (a section is cut out next to the ramp so you can return to the trail after riding over-no place to actually go once over). A couple small dirt jumps, too, if you know where to look.

Recommended Route:
Most seem to prefer to park at Wakefield and ride the connector trail over, and it's often what we do. Sometimes, though, I'll drive in Queensbury and park in the back lot behind the pavilion.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Wakefield is close by, Fountainhead is awesome. Conway Robinson is also not too far away.

Summary:
Pretty good trail. Its marked Foxtrot and is actually on many other sites and published maps under that name. One pretty good jump into a little draw. You can hit other jumps on many of the logs. Some short decents that are worth while. A couple of short steep uphill sections that you just need to get in gear for. I've been riding this trail about 2 times a week for 4 months and I still find new sections of the trail. If you go to the park office the maps do not have the trail on it. Just ride around the lake until you see the trailhead.

Recommended Route:
Park at Wakefield. Take the trail on the southern part of the first parking lot to a multitrack trail. Head to the underpass under Braddock road and follow the trail around the lake clockwise. Follow the signs to the Marina. Go over the dam and up the steep hill. Head over a small bridge and you will see the end of the trail ahead. Go right. Head trough the cut and the trailhead will be on the left after a steep drop on your right. Go on the foxtrot trail, follow it back to the small brige. Head back the way you came. After you get to the underpass, keep left and head into Wakefield Park and hit the powerline trail. Then head back to the parking lot. The whole thing is about 7 or 8 miles. A great cross country ride if you can't leave fairfax county.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fountainhead, Wakefield Park

Summary:
This is a really nice ride when you can't make it to the outer 'burbs for a more technical experience. A lot of trailwork has been done since the last time someone posted a review, and as far as I know, most of the user conflicts are in the past as well. Accotink is now a compact network of nice, twisty, well-maintained singletrack for riders of almost all skill levels. No, you won't get your "Epic XC" workout here, and no, you won't get your Mountain Dew Freeride/DH Shredfest here either. it's just a fun, moderaely challenging MTB course.

I'm giving it 5 chilis overall to help counter the outdated and biased ratings of the past, but in reality I'd give it 4 (even though it's not that hard, it really is a fun network of trails!)

Recommended Route:
Join a MORE evening ride, held several times per week year-round, weather permitting: (http://www.more-mtb.org/)

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fountainhead, Shaeffer Farm (in MD), Great Falls

Summary:
My huge gripe with Accotink is that the singletrack is so poorly maintained. In the summer months, the trails become so narrow with overgrowth that it looks like you're riding through the jungle. You spend more time looking for poison ivy and being slapped in the leg by weeds than enjoying the ride. It's a nice place for practice or for beginners to hone their skills, but more skilled riders will want to look elsewhere. The poor maintenance forces me to give a low rating.

Recommended Route:
Pick any of the singletrack that runs off the main loop. It all eventually leads to the same place.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fountainhead
