Mt. Philo

Average Rating:    (2 of 5)

Steep paved road without any tehnical difficulty. Look off the the sides for some very gnarly tehnical trails. Some are very rooty and imposible to go up when wet. Very fun to go down. If anyone else knows some good champlain valley trails post 'em.

Summary:
Mr philo is best for a good grind on your road bike. If your out on a long ride throw in a climb up the mountain to test your self. It only takes about 15 minutes to go up but its steep.

Go to a local shop to ask directions to good trails and check on access issues and trail conditions.

Recommended Route:
Philo is a weak little park. Nice place to walk your dog, not worth hauling the bike. Views? Yeah, they're ok, but nothing compared to what some real effort will get you.

Summary:
Mt. Philo has some crazy views from the top, as well as camping in season.Winter time see mad tobagganeers wail down from the top. We tried a midnight run down once and it was way scarier than that.

Recommended Route:
There are switchbacks that weave up the hill. The road is for heavy older steel. Woods are for riding bikey.I suggest aluminum.Doh!

To Chris: pay the fee or go later in the year. Views excellent, trails exist.Boo!
