avoid the main loop around the pond, Look for singletrack leading mainly up, explore the many routes down. Hard to get lost, maps may be available at town offices where you can get seasons pass. Great swimming and fishing too.

Every few months

Summary:
The route expalined in the other reviews is pretty much the bulk of it. There is a trail the circles the lake. It is wide and mellow. There are trails that branch of and take you over to colchester pond. This would be a good commuter route. While the trail described above is descent, it is tiny. This would be a good place to learn. If you combine this with the mad tech of Circumcision Hwy. you have a full day. If you don't know where the Hwy is, I will not tell. There is riding in Colchester at camp Johnson, but it is flat. Ride your bike Urban in B town or go to Stowe, Catamount(pay), Sleepy Hollow(pay), Waitsfield, Waterbury....

Recommended Route:
There are some other loops to hit, but this place is baby.

Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
This trail is for intermediate to advanced riders, especially when it is wet. It involves going up a good distance as well a pretty technical descent. All in all, it rocks and more people should know about it. It's not a very long ride (most people could finish it within an hour) but is well worth it.

Recommended Route:
This route is commonly known as the "Light Tower Loop". Follow Indian Brook Road all the way down until you reach the boat launch parking lot. This is where the main hiking/biking/equestrian trail starts, THIS IS NOT THE ONE. Opposite this trail on the other side of the parking lot, you'll see a very wide trail going into the woods. This eventually turns into a narrow bike trail as you follow it up. Keep going on this trail you will go by another trail on your left marked with a blue arrow. This is where it eventually dumps you out, although you can ride up this way. Keep following the main until you reach a gravel road. Take a left up the road and follow it all the way to the giant radio tower. About 50 yards before the tower is another trail head which is about about a mile of tight, technical singletrack. This is the way down. Take a left at the one fork in this trail and it leads you to the main trail at the blue arrow that mentioned before. (If you go right, you'll end up at a sweet view of Lake Champlain). Bomb back down the main trail for a fun descent back to the parking lot.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Other trails.....Catamount Family Center in Williston, Camp Johnson in Colchester (yes, its legal), Fairfax Falls in Fairfax.
