Green Mountain Trails

Average Rating:    (3.67 of 5)

Trailheads located at Amee Farm or at the top of Tweed River Drive. Mix and match about a dozen trails according to you preferences and abilities. A thousand feet of climbing, killer views and just as much descending. Includes a bermed flowy downhill, a techy, twisty romp through a dark pine forest, fast straightaways on the side of a very steep bank and lots more. The trails are constantly evolving, more are being added and existing ones are improved.

Summary:
Fun trail! I have rode heretwice and parked at the top of Tweed River Drive both times. You still have a climb to get back to the parking lot. But the run down Fusters is worth it. Some really techincal stuff in Labyrinth and Warman is a must ride. The route i recommended was 11.6 miles with 1,634 feet of elavation gain. Overall good stuff. Well built trails and marked well.

Recommended Route:
Park at the top of Tweed River Drive. Green Trail -> Zee Dee -> Green Trail -> Luvin' It -> Fusters -> Escalator -> Noodle Revenge -> Stonewall ->
Green Trail -> Parking Lot

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Pine Hill Park or Moosalamoo

Summary:
This was a nice fun start on Barn Dance...makes you smile. Getting over the creek to start up stairs is a pain in the A$$. I hear you can drive up to the higher elevation parking if you are not inclined to ride up inclines...but that's not me.

Overall the berms were kind of mounds...and you don't really get use of them. Also the switchbacks were not so well designed. I just rode Golden Colorado and one climb was over 3,600 feet of pedaling to 9,000 feet views. Somehow the switchbacks just worked better there under way steeper conditions, so it can be done! There could be some nice features thrown in, but it has some room for improvement. Maybe Irene wiped it out before I got there...but over all it is great for a leg breaking climb, but lacks the whoooo-hoooo! I have to go back tomorrow kind of fun times.

I understand someone just built this for free for us...and that is a sweet nice sentiment. I don;t want to sound disrespectful. That is so great for someone to do and I have hand carved trails myself, so I know what an undertaking it is. We do thank you!

Recommended Route:
Barn Dance, follow red arrows up the The Stairs to the Escalator find Noodles Revenge (and Overlook views) intersection and go up to Luvin' It to Labyrinth to Warman, take the Green Trail, Zebedee to Fusters and get back on the stairs, reverse it to Amee farm. Free bike wash there at the barn! Yeah!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Pine Hill, Killington, The Catamount Trail

Summary:
Typical buff Vermont trails, but not much mud for this region. Lots of ascending and descending with fun, bermed switchbacks. Nothing extremely difficult technically (yet!) but be prepared for a few tough ascents which translates into extremely fun downhills.

Recommended Route:
Barn Dance-The Stairs-The Escalator-Noodles Revenge (up)-Luvin It-Labyrinth-Warman-Green Trail-Zebedee-Fusters-back to the stairs and home...about 10 miles.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Contest Trail, Pine Hill, Michigan Road (for the scenery)
