Summary:
GREAT trail!

I met Don at Fast Trax and he printed me up a map...as I was driving to the trail his neighbor caught up to me and showed me around...

Amazing windy trails, a bit more of a climb than my CT flatlander legs and lungs are used to, but overall a near perfect experience!

Summary:
Those trails have it all! I was up there for the Montgomery Bike Festival on June 12th... what a day! The trails are amazing! The climbing is pretty technical but always rideable.

The first loop we did was Overland. It starts up by an easy climb, then a bigger climb... All the way up a nice little peak. Climbing swicthbacks is fun because it doesn't feel like pure climbing. Then you meet up with the group for a long awaited break! Once you got your lungs back, you start going down... It's not too steep but it's technical... in some long areas, it feels like "webs" at Kingdom Trails... Then you get to a bit of water crossing... no problems, there are bridges tohelp you cross and not affect the land by the bike tracks! Pretty impressive!

The second loop we went to the "Race Course". Once again, it starts with a very long and technical climb. Again, you're climbing in switchbacks so it's not that bad... you come along some ancient road that are far from civilization... you wonder what they were used to... and you're still climbing... Don't worry, once it's starts coming down, you're in for some action! It's even more technical then the previous route... It's steep and there are some really tight switchbacks... even some huge slick rocks along the fall line... WoW!

The third loop we didn't do... It's called the "Outback"... I guess because it's out in the back of Don's house!

All i know is that this is the place to go in northern vermont! I've been at Jay all my life and never new i had such trails right in my backyard!

Recommended Route:
Go down from Jay on 242. Once you get to the stop in Montgomery, stick to you right and visit First Trax ( www.firstrax.net )

Summary:
I got a place near Jay and was looking for somewhere to ride, a friend told me to go to FisrtTrax. I stopped in and the owner directed me to (basically) his back yard. The trail was mostly singletrack with some small water crossings (they have cool little bridges). It was pretty technical (which is good). The trail looks like it ws cut yesterday and there is still a lot of little logs and stuff in the trail (not a big deal). The only problem was the trail could be a little longer. Cool place. The view of the local mountains are awesome.

Recommended Route:
Ask FirstTrax for directions.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Don't litter, find the big rock and chill on top for a little break from your ride.
