Cross Country Rider Summary: A good variety of terrain. Lots and lots of trails. It took me four tries before I made it around the loop. The map I got from www.madriverriders.com was good, but didn't show the way around a new house that just went in. This is a great place that I really enjoy riding at.

Cross Country Rider Summary: The trails are riding sweet with a lot of problem areas buffed out. Most of the wet holes on trail from Tucker Hill side are rocked in and the Cyclone is clear of blowdowns etc, through to the bottom. Clinic is riding smooth, although we still have work to do on th GS side. New reroute for Kessler's Connection being laid out now. Should be in by fall.
We expect to hear from the State this season about full approval of the trails. Keep your fingers crossed.
John Recommended Route: Up then down. Repeat. Other recommended trails in the same area: Plum Creek and Upper Plum Creek. The MRR/VMBA should have these marked out soon. Might the network be getting dialed? Hope so. Thanks for all the work on UPC Chewie!
Leave the twelve gauge at home ;)

Cross Country Rider Summary: Yeah, it's me again. Great news, though. The Mad River Riders (VMBA) have been given permission from VT-FPR to begin maintenance on the trails in the Howe Block of Camel's Hump State Forest. Work has begun on the Clinic and GS, with dry reroutes, lots of rock work and some new features. Clean-up and buffing will continue throughout the season. The trails are rolling better than ever.
Although he doesn't ride anymore, I must thank Flo-Tech Engineering for layout and design of several classic sections of trail.
I recommend parking in town and riding up. You can hit trail or dirt road within minutes(or seconds, if you go up Dana Hill Rd - rock star route) and then you don't have a long climb at the end of the ride to get back to your car. Go to Stark Mountain Bikes at the corner of RT17 and RT100 for more info. 802-496-4800

www.madriverriders.com Recommended Route: I tend to climb up the Catamount Trail from Harris Hill Rd, wind around to the old race course behind Southface condos, up Hell Hill, rip down Ridgie to Maple Twist, which puts you at the top of Tucker Hill Rd. Then into the parking area on the right, up over the top of the powerline climb, through the Enchanted Forest to the top of Dana Hill Road. Stop at the lookout for a quick break, then down the GS(right in front of you) and up the Clinic(take two lefts near the bottom to start ascending again). Take a left on Dana Hill Rd at the top of the Clinic, up a hundred yards or so and go right into the Cyclone. Cyclone down to the bottom, with the scary finish out the bottom of Dana Hill Rd. Other recommended trails in the same area: Too many to name. Go to www.vmba.org.
